It’s that time of year when many of you are freezing and want something nice and warming…For me it is getting hotter here as I am on the opposite continents to some of you 🙂
I think soup has gone through many revivals over the years. I remember my mother making soup from chicken or turkey carcasses or as a treat we had Heinz tomato soup.

Isn’t it funny how when we were young homemade cooking was natural and Campbell’s processed soup was a treat…lol I loved it when the TV tray meals were invented! Now everybody seems to do processed and homemade cooking is the treat!

It is Diane and it is such a shame but I do think home cooking is getting a revival now…How far that will go I don’t know as food manufacturers are very clever marketers and many seem to think it is quicker to buy fast foods/packets when the reality is home cooking doesn’t mean you spend all day in the kitchen does it? But I will keep banging my drum…lolI hope you are having a great weekend 🙂

Hi Carol, I tried the Brussel Soup for Lunch today.. it was really tasty.. Those ground fennel seeds make a difference.. And I made the waffes too.. I did not have the full weight of walnuts it just fell a little short, And I think I may have had more than two tbsps of breadcrumbs, as I used one slice of brown bread..So they may have come out more crumbly than intended, but they were delicious and the soup.. Very good..
Thank you again Carol.. have a great weekend. 🙂 Sue

I love making soup. My favourite is using a chicken very similar to your recipe. I must try the brussel sprout recipe.

Last evening we had soup. Because I am busy it came from a box, a gourmet mixture of creamy super greens, organic peas, broccoli and spinach. Your recipes sound so yummy.
My best homemade soups begin with bones, pork or chicken carcasses usually.
You are one of my few blog friends to whom I can say “Stay cool”!
