Welcome to the last and final edition of Fang- Tastic Friday…All Hallows night is Wednesday but I am sure many of you will be holding your parties this weekend if so have the best time and have fun!
All decorations are probably up by now and costumes made or hired…Just maybe some last-minute bits and pieces to do…
I am starting with this awesome tipple a Spicy Mexican Michelada which is similar to Bloody Mary ( my fave) but made with beer and clam juice…

Halloween symbols are not made up or random… Black cats, spiders, and bats are all Halloween symbols because of their spooky history and ties to Wiccans. All three were thought to be the familiars of witches in the middle ages, and are often associated with bad luck.
Bats are also connected to Halloween by the ancient Samhain ritual of building a bonfire, which drove away insects and attracted bats.

My Last Halloween Recipe using squash or pumpkin.
Chilli Con Carne with Pumpkin.
The one thing I love about chilli is that anything goes, it is probably one of the most iconic dishes which can be so far away from the true Mexican chilli which is made with cubes of meat but that recipe is for another day…
- 1 lb minced beef or pork or mix the two… I do this as minced beef when I can get it comes in silly little packs at not so silly prices so I mix the two types of meat.
- 1 med brown onion
- 4 garlic cloves finely chopped
- 2 any colour sweet peppers, red, green or yellow
- 14 ounces of soaked kidney beans
- 14 ounces chickpeas soaked or if canned drained
- 14 ounces of fresh tomatoes..I blitz mine
- 1 cup of fresh chicken stock
- 10 oz of cubed pumpkin or squash
- Small can of sweet corn kernels or one cob stripped down ( optional)
- 1/2 -2 tsp of red chilli flakes
- 2 tsp chilli powder
- 1-2 tsp of ground cumin…
- I tsp salt to season
- Black pepper to season
- 2 tsp of pumpkin spice mix
Heat oil in a pan and add onions cook for a few minutes until soft and add the garlic.
Then add the meat and cook until browned add all the other ingredients and spices except for the corn and chickpeas add those about 15 minutes near the end of cooking.
This really is a one pot chuck it in and done…
To serve top with sour cream, chopped coriander or cheese…
