Wow! What a week and just in case it has been one of those crazy weeks for you… Here is a roundup of all my posts throughout the week so grab a cuppa, settle down in your favourite chair. Relax and enjoy …
A subject which I am very passionate about is waste plastic, food and anything which fits in between…We live in a very beautiful world and it is getting trashed by mankind in the name of greed, profiteering or just plain laziness because you can’t be bothered to dispose of it correctly.
My first post of the week was about Ramen Noodles…
Should you be eating them? Well in a word No! But if it really is a very occasional snack then it is ok I suppose but every day or more than that then you are opening yourself up to having health problems…There are so many different noodles out there and of course, those of you who cook and make pasta you can make your own…Everything you need to know is in the post…
Last week for me my Healthy Eating, Eat Smart post was ( unintentionally) an Orange week plenty of Vitamin C… I have a new favourite smoothie Carrot and Orange it is the most vibrant orange colour and absolutely delicious…My second find was the lovely Persimmon Fruit and that is also very nice and my new favourite fruit…
Don’t the weeks and days fly by as before I knew it Wednesday was here and it was time for my weekly column over @ Sally’s for my cookery column for her Smorgasbord Magazine…
Fried rice was one of those dishes I could never get right and I stopped trying until that is I moved here and discovered I was doing it all totally wrong and I can now make a wicked plate of Thai fried rice…Easy when you know how isn’t it? A Thai Cookery Lesson…
Thursday’s has become soapbox day for me or my weekly rant coupled with some hints and tips on how to throw less food away… It is proving to be a very popular post and wouldn’t it be lovely if we could save food and encourage others and maybe that would be one less hungry person.
No mother should have to watch their child crying from hunger and while I am on that subject I am appalled that the world watches as one of the worst famines in history unfolds…Yemen …The images coming out of there are heartbreaking and it saddens me. I have however been gladdened by the comments from you guys on how you are combatting waste in your home …Keep up the good work and share with us all your tips.
At last great news that eating Organic produce benefits your health and reduces your chances of getting cancer…Hallelujah! Read all about it over at Sally’s Health Column.
Awww…my last Fang-Tastic Friday post until next year…I hope you all are having or do have a Fantastic Halloween and for those who wanted to try the Michelada which is a spicy Mexican drink if you can’t get clam juice then it is easy to make your own… There is also a recipe for my pumpkin spice chilli…You will love it!
To Make Clam juice…Clam Juice is actually broth from clams, sold in small bottles. To make Clam Juice, clams are shucked, then briefly steamed. The steaming water becomes a broth. It is strained to get any grit or sediment out, then bottled.
Saturday was #Prompt 8 from Lorna over at Gin & Lemonade and my short story was about a road trip to a secret Garden in Koh Samui…I hope you enjoy it! To me one of the most magical places I have seen x
Lastly, thank you for reading and don’t forget on Wednesday which is All Hallows Eve we will be having a party over at Sally’s …See you there…Fun and frolics!
If you can find any Halloween photos or indeed any fancy dress photos we would all love to see them…I am still looking for mine…
Until Wednesday enjoy your Sunday xxxx
About Carol Taylor:
Enjoying life in The Land Of Smiles I am having so much fun researching, finding new, authentic recipes both Thai and International to share with you. New recipes gleaned from those who I have met on my travels or are just passing through and stopped for a while. I hope you enjoy them.
I love shopping at the local markets, finding fresh, natural ingredients, new strange fruits and vegetable ones I have never seen or cooked with. I am generally the only European person and attract much attention and I love to try what I am offered and when I smile and say Aroy or Saab as it is here in the north I am met with much smiling.
Some of my recipes may not be in line with traditional ingredients and methods of cooking but are recipes I know and have become to love and maybe if you dare to try you will too. You will always get more than just a recipe from me as I love to research and find out what other properties the ingredients I use contain to improve our health and wellbeing.
Exciting for me hence the title of my blog, Retired No One Told Me! I am having a wonderful ride and don’t want to get off, so if you wish to follow me on my adventures, then welcome! I hope you enjoy the ride also and if it encourages you to take a step into the unknown or untried, you know you want to…….Then, I will be happy!
