Waste Not! Want Not!…Week 22…Hydrating shampoo bar and pollutants…

Another week where Climate Change is high on the agenda and for the brits I suppose it makes a welcome change from Brexit…

It was also heartening to see how many people are coming out to say hey…We feel strongly about this…We want action…

Today in my FB news feed was an article published by The Independent Newspaper  stating

MPs make history by passing Commons motion to declare ‘environment and climate change emergency’

1,457 EDMs were tabled by MPs during the 2015-16 parliamentary session. Data on EDMs is given in the House of Commons Sessional Returns under ‘notices of motions for an early day’.

My question is how many get any further than that or get passed?

It seems to be around 4% and it is worrying that the respected House of Commons library could not find any examples of a national or parliamentary declaration of a “climate emergency”

I do hope that after everyone’s hard work that the 100 MP’s signatures required to give this motion a chance happens.

I have read much before writing this post including some info I found through DuckDuckGo where searches throw up information which Google doesn’t …No surprises there…I am currently reading through a pdf on climate change and it is very interesting in that even scientists cannot agree as to the urgency or severity of the risk to life on Earth…

Many of their findings are based on info from NASA and interestingly figures on what plants need to grow and survive and what man needs to survive which are two different things…

Planet Earth

Nature itself has gone through changes over many millions of years and man and nature have all adjusted and survived maybe not in exactly the same form but have evolved with the climate changes…

Most scientists agree that to some level(s) mans impact on greenhouse gases has interrupted the natural cycles of the Earth thus accelerating the natural change process.

What they don’t agree on is the impact on man and nature…

The Science says we need to be vigilant to keep our land, air and waters free of real pollution, particulates, heavy metals, pathogens, but carbon dioxide (CO2) is not one of these pollutants. Carbon is the stuff of life. Our bodies are made of carbon.
Every day a normal human exhales around 1 kg of CO2 — the simplest most chemically stable molecule of carbon in the earth’s atmosphere.

There are many critics and nasty comments about young Greta Thunberg but one of her statements when reading her speech on the haters was that she was talking to some scientists to ensure that the statements she made were true…

To me, Climate change is a science based on many factors based on research…

My question is are all these articles we see in the news, om social media is it Joe Public being fed what governments want us to know,. Is it a person or organisation who is reading and telling us what they think we want to know or telling us what their thoughts are but are those thoughts based on proven facts and science or is it just an individuals perception?

I am not a scientist or educated with lots of letters after my name unless a banking degree counts but I am also hopefully not blindly led and don’t believe everything I read…I also do check links and facts and lately by means other than Google as they, as we know, tend to show us what they think we want basing it on past searches.

I have also been wary of government officials who are given a position as head of a department when they have no expertise in that particular field…It happens…

I believe the real issues are pollution, but what constitutes pollution?

  • What are the different types of Pollution? Environmental Pollution occurs in different forms; air, water, soil, radioactive, noise, heat/ thermal and light. …
  • Air Pollution. …
  • Water Pollution. …
  • Soil pollution. …
  • Noise pollution. …
  • Radioactive pollution. …
  • Light pollution.

This is just one report on how reports can be misleading…The China Water Risk…

What are your thoughts…I would love to know do you think Climate change is a risk or just overhyped? And why?

What is not a pollutant?

Myth: CO2 is a pollutant.

Fact: Totally false. We challenge you to prove otherwise. CO2 is in our every breath, in the carbonated sodas and waters that we drink and in the dry ice that helps us keep our food cold and safe. We breathe in 400 parts per million and then exhale 40,000 parts per million with no ill effects.

To read more…

Lastly, I do believe we have a problem and we must address pollution or it will upset the natural cycle of the world but we also really need to do our own research as much of what is in the media is half-truths at best…We do need to look at the chemical pollution of our foods and health products and plastic is a huge, huge issue and these need to be addressed…

Victoria Zigler my intrepid reporter sent me these…Details of a hydrating shampoo bar something I haven’t tried yet but I will as anything which stops chemicals going in the water system is good…This shampoo bar is 100% natural and artisanal. Composed of aloe vera, natural glycerin and castor oil, it gently cleanses the hair and body, leaving the hair fibre hydrated* and full of vitality.

NO parabens, silicones and SLS. 100% vegan.

Thank you, Tori…x

The latest on Monsanto...US government declares Roundup is not dangerous to humans despite two landmark cases that found glyphosate caused cancer.

It seems despite these cases, Costco removing Roundup from their shelves and many other countries, France has a total ban and many others bans with provisos…

The only course of action to me seems that the consumer needs to speak and hit where it hurts and stop buying anything which has connections to Monsanto…

What are your thoughts?

Thank you for reading and commenting on these posts …There are definitely some battles going on coupled with many untruths…xxx

About Carol Taylor:

Enjoying life in The Land Of Smiles I am having so much fun researching, finding new, authentic recipes both Thai and International to share with you. New recipes gleaned from those who I have met on my travels or are just passing through and stopped for a while. I hope you enjoy them.

I love shopping at the local markets, finding fresh, natural ingredients, new strange fruits and vegetable ones I have never seen or cooked with. I am generally the only European person and attract much attention and I love to try what I am offered and when I smile and say Aroy or Saab as it is here in the north I am met with much smiling.

Some of my recipes may not be in line with traditional ingredients and methods of cooking but are recipes I know and have become to love and maybe if you dare to try you will too. You will always get more than just a recipe from me as I love to research and find out what other properties the ingredients I use contain to improve our health and wellbeing.

The environment is also something I am passionate about and there will be more on this on my blog this year

Exciting for me hence the title of my blog, Retired No One Told Me! I am having a wonderful ride and don’t want to get off, so if you wish to follow me on my adventures, then welcome! Omg, Carol, I can’t believe that the US government has declared Roundup not harmful to humans, really? Don’t they realise that people are changing and won’t take the bullshit anymore?
As to climate change, I am a believer that it is happening and it is up to us to make changes to ensure we halt it. Also, what have you discovered about the pole shift? xxx

I have almost given up listening to what the US government is doing it is like a runaway train, Adele…There is a lot of hype about the Pole shift and doom-mongers…The facts that they know from past pole shifts are what I try to find and yes things may move at a different pace due to varying factors but the world is an enormous planet to just flip on its axis so I tend to disbelieve doom-mongers. Here are a couple of links https://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-pole-shift.htm

      Hope that helps 🙂 xx

Thanks for thinking about and caring about and writing these important issues! It IS a challenge to know what information to trust. For example, here’s a link about one of the links you shared. It seems that the man listed on the “Plants Need C02” blog is strongly connected with the fossil fuel industry… https://www.desmogblog.com/h-leighton-steward. Not sure if that makes me trust him and his web site more or less…

Thank you,Will..I missed that one…I was looking at Monsanto and under Clinton/Obama there were 16 monsanto directors or employees/researchers on Federal government staff e.g A senior white house staff member in Clintons government was a director for internal government affais for Monsanto…I couldn’t find figures for Trumps and there were only 4 under Obama but 4 too many in my eyes…Every link if you drill down you find a connection it is scary all sewn up really how the rich get richer and **** the electorate…Thank you for your valid contribution 🙂 x

There have have been cooling periods and warming periods over millions of years.. they believe it was much warmer in medieval times .. but generally in Victorian times temperatures in England were cooler with a mini ice age in 1850s.. this post was quite interesting http://fiveminutehistory.com/was-victorian-weather-cooler-than-today… it is believed by many that this is a natural warming period that we have been in for 150 years….but I do believe that humans and their waste are causing levels of pollution that are unsustainable for the future of the planet.. Some countries are cutting back on what they chuck into the atmosphere, but it is a waste of time unless massive countries such as India and China do not do likewise… just my opinion…thanks Carol.. as always interesting.

An interesting post and there were definitely far more layers of clothes being worn which indicates it was cooler than today. I agree pollution is definitely unsustainable and China and India as you say need to step up…India have set them selves a target but early signs are it is just chaos and not really working ..China well they think planting trees is enough but their smog and pollution is off the scale…Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Sally some you have raised some valid issues ….Man has a lot to answer for …Hugs xxx

    You’re welcome about the link.

I think some of it is what they want us to see, but we do know there’s truth oo a lot of it. You just have to do your research, and figure things out for yourself. It’s the same with pretty much everything these days.

My husband had asthma when he was a child, living in a country town near the coast. Our three children were brought up by Heathrow Airport and never got asthma! There is nothing straightforward about the environment and how it affects people, but it is heartbreaking that city children are getting asthma and their lung development is compromised. Ever since I was a car sick child I have hated cars and their fumes, but no politician is going to declare all private cars to be banned…

Good Article, Our individual power is in our pockets. As you said, if we quit buying this stuff they say is safe, safe for who. If other country’s are banning it, and yet the united states says, oh it is safe. Seems like they are telling me we are all dispensable. I have quit buying all of this stuff, prepackaged food, chemicals for weeds, fast food, plastic. It is all bad for the environment. Great article.
