Waste Not!Want Not…Week 24…Dead Gray Whales…Fat Bergs…

Week 24 …Where do the weeks go?… The research is going well but it takes me off on so many tangents and boy does it leave me with lots of questions…

I see a headline either the news or FB…Today it was this one…Not happily playing like this picture…Dead on the beach…

Scientist Sounds The Alarm On 9th Dead Gray Whale Off San Francisco…Whales dying of malnutrition…

Of course, it had the addition of the picture which was going to tug at your heartstrings and getting you to comment and push the share button all in the space of about 5 seconds…

Wow, if you had a product to sell and made a sale someone would be rubbing their hands together…I didn’t!…

I have in the past just pressed share but so many times either through someone else’s comment or just because I wanted to know more …I discovered there is a bigger picture…

9 dead whales… 3 maybe 4 were because of a collision with a boat…That reduces the odds…

Are malnutrition and starvation the same thing?

Starvation is a severe deficiency in caloric energy intake, below the level needed to maintain an organism’s life.

Malnutrition results from a poor diet or inability to absorb nutrients.

It was said that discounting the trauma from a collision that those figures were high…maybe as a result of warming oceanic conditions, which have contributed to shifting food sources.

But the inability to absorb nutrients can be caused by illness, it could be caused by foreign bodies in the stomach or digestive system. We have seen the stories and pictures of the amount of rubbish/plastic in animals stomachs. Microplastics are a danger generally eaten by the smaller fish but who eats the smaller fish?

The story from the Blue Water Task Force states that the much-needed rainfall has brought highly polluted stormwater and debris to the beaches. Hence the surfers can’t surf and the beaches are closed …Health reasons...But what about the marine life???

My point being please don’t just take a horrified look at a picture or headline …DO your research… Please x

7 miles down in one of the deepest parts of the oceans…Unbelievable…Plastic Waste

How low can the depths of mankind’s waste and inability to dispose of correctly reach…

Thousands have lived without love, not one without water.

W. H. Auden

I am sure many of you have thought about what flows away from your house through the water system …Where does it end up? Either in your septic tank ( If ) you have one or it goes to a sewage treatment plant through a sewage system. I have watched the videos and it is a great system so how do our waterways get polluted?

Chemical waste from factories is sometimes dumped into rivers and lakes, or directly into the ground. Pesticides (chemicals that kill insects) applied to farmland enter surface water and groundwater, often in large quantities. … I think that statement makes the situation perfectly clear …Don’t You!

I can hear you going phew! She isn’t going to blame me…We don’t get off scot-free…Sorry!

I am as guilty of this as anyone..Well, I am not now as hubby watches me like the proverbial hawk…He is just happy there is something he can blame me for…I am happy to let him have that one…haha

The motto do not wash any fat down your sink even if accompanied by boiling water…

About Carol Taylor:

Enjoying life in The Land Of Smiles I am having so much fun researching, finding new, authentic recipes both Thai and International to share with you. New recipes gleaned from those who I have met on my travels or are just passing through and stopped for a while. I hope you enjoy them.

I love shopping at the local markets, finding fresh, natural ingredients, new strange fruits and vegetable ones I have never seen or cooked with. I am generally the only European person and attract much attention and I love to try what I am offered and when I smile and say Aroy or Saab as it is here in the north I am met with much smiling.

Some of my recipes may not be in line with traditional ingredients and methods of cooking but are recipes I know and have become to love and maybe if you dare to try you will too. You will always get more than just a recipe from me as I love to research and find out what other properties the ingredients I use contain to improve our health and wellbeing.

The environment is also something I am passionate about and there will be more on this on my blog this year

Exciting for me hence the title of my blog, Retired No One Told Me! I am having a wonderful ride and don’t want to get off, so if you wish to follow me on my adventures, then welcome! I hope you enjoy the ride also and if it encourages you to take a step into the unknown or untried, you know you want to…….Then, I will be happy!
