Did you know???

Archie is one of the most famous non-superhero characters around …The Archie character was introduced in the Pep Comic #22 which was first published in December 1941…

But did you know? the show Sabrina…The teenage witch was a spin-off of the animated Archie Show…

Archie and his friends also had a band aka The Archies… It was #1 on the pop charts of 1969 and sold over 6 million copies

Time for a tune…

That had me tapping my feet…

2nd October 1902 Helen Beatrix Potters book…The Tale of Peter Rabbit was published by Frederick Warne & Co in London…Who would have thought then that even today Beatrix Potter Books adore many a child’s bookshelves and are a favourite bedtime story…

Have you heard of The Wilhelm Scream? I have to say it was news to me…

I really can’t believe we are in October already where has the year gone? Haloween will soon be upon us and Harvest Festival and then the countdown to you know what will begin in earnest…I am sure many you have already got that smug look and all is wrapped and ready…This lady hasn’t I have a few bits and bobs but that is all…

It was early in this month 5th October 1963  that the Fab Four released their first single …Love me Do…The first of many hits for the Beatles…

Handshakes were originally meant to make sure that the person you were meeting wasn’t carrying a concealed weapon. The handclasp proved that your hand was empty and shaking was meant to dislodge any weapons hiding up the sleeve.

Time for a story…Started by Steph Richmond

The Charade – Chapter 5 by Steph Richmond…

She walked along the street, she still couldn’t shake off the afterthoughts of the dream. The feeling of happiness the card had offered dissipated and she started to feel uncomfortable for no apparent reason, she picked up her stride and headed to her bosses house. She walked past a bakers and the smell of the newly baked bread almost drew her in, she promised herself she would go in on her way home and treat herself to something sweet with the money she was due, the display in the window held trays of oatcakes and a beautiful sponge cake, she silently wished she could afford to fritter her money on something that trivial. She turned right into a long row of houses, these were a much better class than the house she had to live in and here there was only one family to a house. Each house had a master, a life she hoped she would find out more about one day. Suddenly she stopped and turned around, she had the feeling that someone was watching her, but there was no one there, just regular people going about their shopping, nothing seemed out of place. She shook herself and kept walking.

The house she was going to was one of the grandest on the street and as she opened the gate the housekeeper Kathy opened the door to her. “Master’s not at home Miss, come in and have a hot drink with me.”

“Good morning Kathy, I’d like that.” With that, they went into the house and settled themselves into the warm kitchen. Kathy put a plate of hot buttered teacakes in front of her and a cup of tea. She hadn’t realised how hungry she was until the smells of fruit and spices enveloped her. Finally, she relaxed, all thoughts of discomfort had gone, now she just had to wait for Mr James to return to the house, she silently hoped he didn’t rush back at least here she was warm and fed. She sat and talked with Kathy for at least an hour before Mr James got home and called her up to his drawing-room.

Did you know that squirrels plant 1000’s of trees every year? They simply forget where they buried their acorns…

About Carol Taylor:

Enjoying life in The Land Of Smiles I am having so much fun researching, finding new, authentic recipes both Thai and International to share with you. New recipes gleaned from those who I have met on my travels or are just passing through and stopped for a while. I hope you enjoy them.

I love shopping at the local markets, finding fresh, natural ingredients, new strange fruits and vegetable ones I have never seen or cooked with. I am generally the only European person and attract much attention and I love to try what I am offered and when I smile and say Aroy or Saab as it is here in the north I am met with much smiling.

Some of my recipes may not be in line with traditional ingredients and methods of cooking but are recipes I know and have become to love and maybe if you dare to try you will too. You will always get more than just a recipe from me as I love to research and find out what other properties the ingredients I use contain to improve our health and wellbeing.

The environment is also something I am passionate about and there are now regular columns on my blog this year. It is important that we are mindful of the world we live in…

Exciting for me hence the title of my blog, Retired No One Told Me! I am having a wonderful ride and don’t want to get off, so if you wish to follow me on my adventures, then welcome! I hope you enjoy the ride also and if it encourages you to take a step into the unknown or untried, you know you want to…….Then, I will be happy!

More and more of my blogging friends have joined me on MeWe…A social media site which is fairly new and which promises much without the restrictions some other social media sites are choosing to impose on many of us…Join me if you will on  MeWe

Oh, I remember the Archies and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. I also remember a whole of other useless crap; it’s the important stuff I struggle with, Carol.😉

I’ve got some pumpkin themed recipes among those on my blog’s recipe section. Just go to Zigler.co.uk and use the dropdown menu to go to our recipe page, and look around. My favourite is pumpkin sage sauce, which I’ll be veganizing for the first time this month, and everyone I’ve tried the dairy version on has loved served with pasta (though I’ve also used the sauce in a vegetable cassarole, so you don’t have to have it with pasta if you don’t want to).
