Once again a very warm welcome to this week’s recycling and environmental news where I post about the good, the bad and the ugly…I would also like to extend my thanks to all of you who support and comment on these posts. I know how passionate many of you are about not only the environment but recycling, our food chain, and manufacture…
Who doesn’t love a piece of chocolate??? Who pays more for chocolate and goods that carry “certified cocoa” endorsements?
It has been some 20 years that the big manufacturers of chocolate pledged to eradicate and not buy cocoa which is harvested using child labour.
Why am I surprised?… I am really old enough now to know that most promises made by companies and manufacturers are just clever marketing..lies…Designed to make us the consumer feel better and spend more money…While there are farmers, young children being exploited, starved, not getting an education, being beaten, deprived of sleep and for what?….
Sorry…It’s for our expensive chocolate and for greedy manufacturers monetary gains…
Some links if you want to read more….. what angers me more is now the statements about 2025 What! after 20 years and executives saying they would not confirm child-free labour and such low percentages of confirmed child-free labour …24% what is that about?
For all their prettily produced videos and pictures of happy smiling faces…It is the biggest load of bull shite I have read…No more chocolate from any source for me…Until I get absolute proof…And don’t get me started on the deforestation…
My plane travel is being cited by some…as a threat to Climate change and the poor cows and their methane gas, 5G…All designed to take our focus away from the real problems…Yes, folks …we are being duped…Once again!

I love honey…I love fresh honey…But without bees that will decline…Bees are our largest pollinator and there are not just honey bees but thousands of bees who do this work, there are over 20,000 species of bees…One of mother natures gifts to us…
Pesticides, industrial farming, deforestation are decimating the bee population...If this does not stop and the bees disappear what do you think will happen?
Because we need to think…But will we?
I believe some of us will and many won’t…What will it take?
I read a blog post the other day...Sad and very well written…Lots and lots of comments …All agreeing and pledging to be more aware of highly processed foods and the chemicals our pets eat…Great news…
For me…I sympathised…didn’t say what I really thought…Why? I would have lynched verbally…
I have noticed the same reactions/ trend on social media that when it is poor, defenceless animals ( I Love my dog) who can’t speak to us our sympathies come out by the lorry load…
My thoughts…Children can be very verbal…bless them…However, we are responsible for the food we buy and feed them…We are responsible for ensuring their safety and education…The incidences of childhood cancers and obesity are up…
Help me out here...the levels of concern and action differ somewhat…My question is why?
If you are still with me I am sorry that there is not much good news this week but both important issues to me and I hope to you?
That is all from me for this week I look forward to your comments…How are you helping the environment in your house and garden?
About Carol Taylor:
Enjoying life in The Land Of Smiles I am having so much fun researching, finding new, authentic recipes both Thai and International to share with you. New recipes gleaned from those who I have met on my travels or are just passing through and stopped for a while. I hope you enjoy them.
I love shopping at the local markets, finding fresh, natural ingredients, new strange fruits and vegetable ones I have never seen or cooked with. I am generally the only European person and attract much attention and I love to try what I am offered and when I smile and say Aroy or Saab as it is here in the north I am met with much smiling.
Some of my recipes may not be in line with traditional ingredients and methods of cooking but are recipes I know and have become to love and maybe if you dare to try you will too. You will always get more than just a recipe from me as I love to research and find out what other properties the ingredients I use contain to improve our health and wellbeing.
The environment is also something I am passionate about and there are now regular columns on my blog this year. It is important that we are mindful of the world we live in…We all need to be aware of our homes carbon footprints…where does our food come from? How far does it travel…Simple to do but if we all did it…Not only would we support local businesses but reduce our carbon footprint…
Exciting for me hence the title of my blog, Retired No One Told Me! I am having a wonderful ride and don’t want to get off, so if you wish to follow me on my adventures, then welcome! I hope you enjoy the ride also and if it encourages you to take a step into the unknown or untried, you know you want to…….Then, I will be happy!
Thank you once again for reading this post I hope you all have a creative week ahead xx

Thank you, Dolly.. I have always been known for having an opinion… Haha 😏

The world needs more people who have opinions, rather than those who blindly follow.

It angers me too that loads of people care more about animals than children. So backwards.
SAve the bees, certainly! But save the children too!

Unfortunately, money is the ruler. Organisations want to make more, consumers want to spend less. Finding the truth can be an almost impossible feat. Thanks for your efforts to overcome ignorance.

You are spot on, Norah and that has always been the case.. I ask myself though is it getting worse or are the masses just better educated so more aware? Maybe I just expect too much… Have a great week, Norah Thank you for commenting 💕

Hmm. I would have thought the masses weren’t necessarily more aware, but some (such as yourself) certainly are. 🙂

I agree. It’s sometimes difficult to know who we can trust for reliable information.

You just said what you really thought. It is awesome. The good news is the lynchers won’t be inclined to read beyond the first paragraph.

All good points, Carol. I had heard the bee population was doing better.

Different reports vary, Robbie and it seems the pesticide industries are hitting back and introducing robot bees and fighting to continue the use of pestacides..That is a report from the Nartional Geographic Society…It is hard to determine what is true and what is not I think…But I don’t agree with the use of dangerous pestacides…A hard call isn’t it ?

I don’t agree with it either, Carol

I wish people really would put their money where their mouth is, but they really like cheap goods. 😦

I know, Chelsea but the time has come to decided where our priorities lie.I have 6 kids and we always ate well and even now the kids all grown up remark on that and cook dishes I made…I grew things in pots and grow bags we didn’t have a large garden and made things from scratch. I also worked full time it wasn’t easy but I planned, organised and used food in season….Those figures on childhood obesity were scary ….Thank you for popping in and commenting 🙂 x
