Saturday Snippets…

Whimsy…given to unusual, funny, and pleasant ideas or qualities and now my whimsy is on Saturdays…What’s new on Wednesday then time will tell it’s in the pipeline…

This week I am on a mission to use my home as exercise and sort out cupboards and pull out furniture a big blitz is underway and no one is safe…as Aston found out this morning as before he did anything I got him to sort out his school books…Much tidier…

This video got me tapping my feet…

This video is just brilliant…I love a bit of rock n roll and jive and hope we can rock it like this in 20 years’ time…

Yesterday I was in a bit of a quandary and not sure what to do the lovely fresh dates sitting looking at me and along came Ronit who advised me to freeze them and thaw them which accelerates the ripening…

Fresh Dates

Thank you, Ronit for that tip…x

I have always loved exploring and love tales of fascinating finds and this …abandoned farmhouse trapped in time was discovered by woodland explorers – it’s ‘creepy’ contents are fascinating just like a time capsule…

It made me remember our very first visit to Thailand when we discovered the Secret Garden…The secret garden is also one of my favourite childhood books…

The Secret Garden…Koh Samui…

Koh Samui The Secret Garden

I hope to go back to Koh Samui next year to celebrate my 70th Birthday will I go back to the Secret Garden…I don’t know it seems like they do tours there now and the road we took is out of bounds…Do I want to revisit with lots of tourists..probably not …I think I will keep my memories intact…

Wellness Corner. Smorgasbord Health Column – The Medicine Woman’s Treasure Chest – Herbal Medicine -Dandelion by Sally Cronin…

As a child, we used to pick them and get told not to as they would make us wet the bed and we used to love blowing the little fairies which we thought the seeds were… little did we know then how many health benefits the humble dandelion has…I will now hand you over to Sally who will tell you just how beneficial to our health the dandelion can be…

Music…Life would be pretty miserable if we didn’t have music…

On the subject of music…The lunatics have been let out of the asylum and they want to ban “Rule Britannia and ” Land of Hope and Glory” being sung at the proms…an utter travesty if it is allowed to happen…

I might have known it was Aunty(BBC) where one of the BBC Music magazine columnists called the lyrics ‘crudely jingoistic’

  1. characterized by extreme patriotism, especially in the form of aggressive or warlike foreign policy.
    “jingoistic propaganda”

That’s all for today…Be well and stay safe don’t forego those precautions too quickly as many areas are seeing an increase in Covid-19 cases…It ain’t over yet folks…Better to be safe than sorry…xx

About Carol Taylor:

Enjoying life in The Land Of Smiles I am having so much fun researching, finding new, authentic recipes both Thai and International to share with you. New recipes gleaned from those who I have met on my travels or are just passing through and stopped for a while. I hope you enjoy them.

I love shopping at the local markets, finding fresh, natural ingredients, new strange fruits and vegetable ones I have never seen or cooked with. I am generally the only European person and attract much attention and I love to try what I am offered and when I smile and say Aroy or Saab as it is here in the north I am met with much smiling.

Some of my recipes may not be in line with traditional ingredients and methods of cooking but are recipes I know and have become to love and maybe if you dare to try you will too. You will always get more than just a recipe from me as I love to research and find out what other properties the ingredients I use contain to improve our health and wellbeing.

Exciting for me hence the title of my blog, Retired No One Told Me! I am having a wonderful ride and don’t want to get off, so if you wish to follow me on my adventures, then welcome! I hope you enjoy the ride also and if it encourages you to take a step into the unknown or untried, you know you want to…….Then, I will be happy!

Thank you once again for reading this post I hope you all have a fabulous week and stay safe these are troubling times xx

I gave up soda three years ago. It’s funny how something that was part of my daily routine I don’t miss at all. Now, milkshakes, that’s a different story. The only thing that works is not to have ice cream in the house.

Jingoistic—I thought I knew what it meant. Wrong again.

I’ve seen the dancing video before, but what an uplifting good time!

You would love it, Dolly…I am just sad that so many tourists are going now we were the only visitors when we visited and used the old road which is not deemed safe now but it really is one of those experiences which has stayed with me…

Thanks for the mention Carol.. some interesting points..personally my opinion is that we cannot change history, only learn from it and change the future. As to Land of Hope and Glory and Brittania.. I have a right to free speech too and that includes being patriotic.. I am sure that others would object most strongly to their own anthems and songs of their countries history being cut from the playlists. xx

They definitely would here… They would certainly be given short shift… 😀 I agree we should learn all history good and bad but unfortunately school systems are selective… which is a shame as that is how we learn to go forward… Hugs xx

Wonderful post. I have seen the video often and I still watch it to the end. It is so uplifting. I was “addicted” to caffeine free diet coke for years. I told my students I only drank carbonated chemical water. (diet coke) The chemicals were doing a number on my fibro so I finally gave it up totally and switched to alkaline water. I won’t lie, I prefer the taste of the soda, but my body thanks me daily with lowered pain levels without the soda.

I’m sure it does…I just don’t drink coke anything which can clean a coin or a loo is why…It is interesting and scary though how much what we consume can affect our health…Thank you for dropping in and leaving a valued comment…be well and stay safe 🙂
