Welcome to Saturday Snippets…where I indulge my whimsy and my passions… maybe a tune or two…something which has caught my eye this last week…just anything out of the ordinary or extraordinary…
I have been busy tending my little seedlings this week they sure sprout quickly here…It has been one of those weeks this week…I have even struggled to blog my heart is not in it at the moment…it has been a sad week …devastating may be a better word which puts my burst pipe into some perspective sadly a dear blogging friend lost her soulmate and my heart breaks for her…thinking of you Debby Gies at this sad time…
Then yesterday the nation of Great Britain and the Commonwealth lost a devoted servant and husband of our beloved Queen Elizabeth…The end of an era in many ways…An outspoken man who told it how it was and a devoted husband who was always at his wife’s side…married to Queen Elizabeth II for more than 70 years Prince Phillip was the longest-serving consort in British history – he was due to turn 100 in two months’ time, on 10 June.
Prince Philip’s concern for young people inspired him to create the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, and he supported more than 800 charities and good causes – focusing on his interests in wildlife conservation, technology and sport.
Since the 1940s Prince Philip was an ever-present figure in the life of the UK and leaves behind his own considerable legacy.
R.I.P Prince Phillip, The Duke of Edinburgh…
That’s all from me today…x
Your Saturday Snippets was just perfect and most appropriate. I can’t imagine anything that deserved more recognition – and downright heart and tears – than the passing of Debby’s husband, and and the passing of Prince Philip. My heart is heavy.

Carol, I worked with his son, Prince Edward, on a TV project and had the good fortune to not only go to Buckingham Palace for meetings on several occasions, but also to go to the Windsor estate for meetings…that is where Prince Phillip used to keep his horses in the stables…a group of six of us, led by Edward, walked across the estate to a restaurant off property, and I noticed there were suddenly SEVEN of us…a man wearing a trench coast with a very stiff arm…because under the coat was a submachine gun, in case anyone tried to bother the Prince, but no one ever did…have lots more royal stories as well…sad loss, Phillip’s portrayal in “The Crown” is a mix of petulant “one lucky man” and sympathy for someone who had a life lived under a microscope…

Wow…you are very lucky to have such memories, John …I agree it is a life in a goldfish bowl or under a microscope and it must be incredibably difficult at times…Prince Phillip is a sad loss for not only The Queen and the family but for us…x

A lovely tribute Carol.. It cannot have been an easy job to be in the shadows but he certainly made his presence felt and his humour certainly endeared him to ordinary people in awe of the monarchy.. And end to an era… hugsx

It´s been one thing after another, as my dear mom would have said. Hard to keep our spirits up.
