Today is the day when His Royal Highness…Prince Phillip, The Duke of Edinburgh will be laid to rest …The service will be held in St. Georges Chapel in Windsor Castle where Prince Philip will be interred at the Royal Vault.
A sad day for the Queen and the Royal Family...a day where she will with her customary grace and dignity sit alone with her thoughts…during the service…
You are greatly loved ma’am for your service to our country and now although you will have the support of your loving family you will not have “your strength and stay”
We all mourn with you, ma’am as his Royal Highness, Prince Phillip, The Duke Of Edinburgh is laid to rest…BUT… what a legacy he leaves…Loved and admired for his unceasing service to his Queen and the many charities he supported…Your memory will live on…R.I.P …Your Royal Highness, Prince Philip…The Duke of Edinburgh.
Lovely post, Carol. He was a fine man.

It was a perfect funeral and the sun was shining. The castle and the town are very familiar to us as we often went there. The service was lovely, the music moving.

I agree l watched every minute of it… what shocked me most was how alone the Queen was she looked quite frail to me… It was truly a lovely service.. Perfect in every way… X

Yes it seems strange to me that she couldn’t be allowed to form a new bubble; any other elderly lady with strapping sons and grandsons would be offered an arm to lean on.

I have noted Prince Philip, always by the side of the Queen, steady in the ship of state. Though he was never a monarch, he functioned well as patriarch of the family. I believe his passing will affect the Queen immensely. Thanks for posting this, Carol!

I think it will, Marian…I have just watched the funeral and it broke my heart to see the Queen sitting alone she looked so sad and frail to me…losing her husband of so many years and having to attend his funeral with the eyes of the world on her…so very sad x

He was, Jim and thank you…an outspoken man at times but a man who supported his wife and did so much for her and Britain and the Commonwealth he was greatly respected around the world x

Though a sad post indeed, I can think of no other more befitting to choose as my first reblog onto my new suit.
Fly free, Prince Phillip. You’ll be truly missed.

I do have a lot of love and respect for the royals. I think they make Britain that little bit different and not only do they attract tourists, they maintain years of tradition. Their sense of duty and hard work for charity I admire enormously.

I’m not even remotely a Royalist, Carol. Shared this on Twitter though. 🙂
