Recipes, Whimsy, Music and cooking a mammoth…
Welcome to this week’s edition of my weekly roundup of posts…Especially for you just in case you missed a few posts during this last week…Time is marching on…It is now officially rainy season here so there will definitely be some dancing in the rain…we are now also nearing the end of May and will soon be welcoming in the month of June…
Just in case you missed any posts this week or love to catch up like I do… snuggle down in your favourite place… get comfy in your favourite corner with your favourite drink tea/coffee or hot chocolate although depending on where in the world you live it could be a glass of wine or two…Cheers!
Let’s get the party started then…
Meatless Mondays are proving to be popular and I must admit I am enjoying trying new products…we love veggies anyway so using those isn’t a problem it’s reducing the meat which is the cause of some opposition.
However last week there was no meatless Mondays but it will be back…
Tuesday …time for a repost of some older posts which some of you may have seen but new followers may not have…I revamped Added Sugars are your worst enemies…we all lash out at the food manufacturers but I am also coming across recipes from home cooks with an extraordinary amount of added sugars where I don’t think it is a necessity…
This leads me to assume that food manufacturers have done a damn good job..they have succeeded…Yes… succeeded in training our palates from an early age that we need sugar and sweetness…even in savoury foods…a trend which we must buck, a trend we must stop so please think when you are adding sugar in whatever form is it absolutely necessary…many of us need to retrain our palates…it can be done…and there are so many benefits for our health…we need to get sugar savvy…
Healthy Eating… Added Sugars are your worst enemy…
An A-Z but with a difference …
The idea for this series came about because yes as my regular followers and commenters know I am passionate about the health of the world I am living in… however often when I am researching and reading articles I come across terms and have to look them up which spawned the idea for this…two-fold… it increases my knowledge and I hope yours…
The A-Z of the environment and Climate Change… letter G.
The best way to predict your future is to create it...Abraham Lincoln.
The Environmental A-Z…the letter G…
So easy to say “make everything from scratch” HOWEVER…let’s be realistic here…and break it down a little.
Look at what you eat often...if it’s something that is a rare treat and time-consuming to make, there is often no point unless you want to make it…Your time is far better spent making food from scratch, which you and your family actually eat on a regular basis.
It is also not just about cooking from scratch it is about shopping your pantry and your fridge before you go shopping and planning ahead … if you make a weekly menu and batch cook then you will have less waste and save money…we all need to cook clever and waste less.
Chilli Powder is one of the easiest things to make at home even if you are only cooking for one as you control how much you make…you also control the heat, the added sugars and fillers which mass-produced spices can contain.

Tropical Fridays...The Pomegranate…
Such a beautiful fruit and a sprinkling of a few arils as a garnish just add that extra zing to a dish…Certainly not easy to seed and you can either daintily pick out the seeds one by one or take a bite and spit them out… I love the molasses which make beautiful sauces and a bottle lasts a little while…
Saturday Snippets…
This week it was mammoths cooked in a Yurt to pickles of all sorts..you can eat them, listen to them, wear them in your ears, listen to them or not…the options are almost endless…Enjoy!
Saturday Snippets…29th May 2021…Pickles of all sorts
Well, that’s it for today…Thank you so much for dropping by…I am still waiting to hear about the results of the tests my daughter had…2 weeks is a long time and we are now into the 2nd week of waiting… I have had one daughter who thankfully survived cancer I am doubly worried about my baby girl…my minds in and out of blogging, yeah for scheduling but if I can’t get a post out… I will just revamp an older blog post and if I don’t comment as much I haven’t forgotten you… my mind is just elsewhere….Love Carol xx
