Welcome to Saturday Snippets where I indulge my whimsy and my passions… maybe a tune or two…something which has caught my eye this last week…just anything out of the ordinary or extraordinary…
For the last two weeks, I have taken inspiration from something I have read or watched… this week I read a poem written by Pam(butterflysand.com) on our feet…something we were born with and use almost every minute of the day or should say abuse…#recommended read
Thank you, Pam, for the inspiration…
My chosen theme…Stiletto…
The stiletto can refer to many things…High Heels, Dagger, fingernails, floral wreaths, mascara, a fruit bowl, a cocktail, a song or a band and yes peeps…Cupcakes…
Knives go back millions of years where the original ones were made of flint and stone…the Italian Stiletto is a sought after knife known for its strength, brutality and needle-like blade…popular among users as it serves as a self-defence weapon and a thrusting blade so thin it can and does penetrate deep into the body and cause severe injury or death.
As can a well placed stiletto heel as us ladies know and the recipient has found out..they also play havoc with our feet…ouch…
White Stilettos are a symbol of the Essex girl…no self-respecting Essex girl would be seen without her white stilettos…
My funny and sad memory …my best friend Mo loved her white stilettos …every year myself and some work colleagues visited Christmas markets around the world …Germany, Denmark we loved these annual trips …having heard me regale tales of our exploits and we did have some and much fun…Maureen decided to come… just think winter, snow and ice…
We had all packed suitable clothing and sturdy boots however as the ferry boat pulled in “the penny dropped”…Maureen’s footwear consisted only of her white stilettos…
I love and miss that girl dearly as she is now causing havoc and having fun no doubt in her heavenly home…Struggling to think of a fitting wreath for her funeral I decided on a white stiletto made of flowers…Miss you Mo xx
Time for some Music…
It does seem every which way you turn the stiletto can be a dangerous thing…
Well, not always so dangerous although your waistline may disagree …the cupcakes look pretty amazing…
Time for a cocktail…
And yes you guessed it…The White Stiletto is the name of a jug of Sangria made with White wine(of course), some cubed mango and pineapple, orange juice and a little rum…There you have it… The White Stiletto.
Thank you for joining me for Saturday Snippets…xx
Thank you for getting me.. my hope for you, Debs is that you end up where I am now and find your peace xx

Great job on this week’s theme. I’m especially impressed by the ingenuity of the cupcake stilettos. That was a hilarious story about your friend. I forgot how good this Billy Joel song was.

Being a short person I loved my stilettos. The extra few inches was welcome. Don’t wear them anymore sadly but still make sure I have some heel to my shoes.

What a lovely tribute to a dear friend. I learned about stilettos, I did not know the backstory. And I will say that I’m pretty sure they would make a great knife if wielded with the proper amount of force. They’ve done it in the movies!

They have indeed it is the villians knife/dagger of choice but I didn’t dwell too much on that.. But thank you, Pam you gave me the idea for a theme for a post 😊x

OMG! It’s good that nobody had asked me about the meaning of “stiletto” before. I would have clearly given myself away. Lol
I only knew stiletto as meaning “lady’s slipper”. You English on are bad. Lol
So many different meanings for one word. 😉 Thank you for the explaination, Carol! Michael

I am always amazed by how some women can actually dance in those heels. Walking in them must be hard enough! 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

I used to be able to dance in them Pete, but I’m not so sure now. I have switched over to ballet slipper styles leather shoes for the summer and longer skirts. I always fancied being a ballerina.

Kudos to you, Robbie mine came off pretty quickly on the dance floor…I love ballet although as a child I dreamt but it wasn’t to be ..Giselle is my favourite ballet 🙂 x

I am sure they did come off, they are difficult to dance in. I love The Nutcracker, but I prefer musicals to ballets.

Gone are those days, Pete and dancing in them never lasted long they soon came off…lol x
