CarolCooks2 weekly roundup…August 1st-7th 2021…It’s Gold, Music, Mariculture, Tamarind and Watermelon…

Music, Environmental A-Z, Tamarind Dip, Biorhythms #Aime and Pickled Watermelon.

Welcome to this week’s edition of my weekly roundup of posts…Especially for you just in case you missed a few posts during this last week…Time is marching on…

August 8th …yes one week is gone already…some August trivia…

August also has two birth flowers – the vibrant multicoloured gladiolus and the deep crimson poppy. The gladiolus flower is said to represent generosity, strength of character, and deep sincerity.

The poppy flower couldn’t be more different though, as it is a sign of imagination, eternal sleep, and oblivion!

Tomorrow  August the 9th  also marks International Day of the World’s Indigenous People’s…This year’s theme is ” Leaving no one behind Indigenous peoples and the call for a new social contract.”

You may ask WHY do we celebrate International Days…International days and weeks are occasions to educate the public on issues of concern, mobilize political will and resources to address global problems and celebrate and reinforce the achievements of humanity. The existence of international days predates the establishment of the United Nations, but the UN has embraced them as a powerful advocacy tool.

August 8th 1964  Bob Dylans “Another Side of Bob Dylan” was released…nice easy listening…

Enough about what’s to come in August let’s have a look at last week…

Plastic…The Latest News…Week 1.

Plastic and the damage it does is always in the news..gets a bit tiring especially when we do all we can to reduce and recycle ours…Last week I just did a recap on the different types of plastic as much for me as for you as I forget sometimes which is which…

Down in the Dumps? Perhaps some Pseudoscience might be the key! – Biorhythms by Sally Cronin.

What are biorhythms?

There is a theory developed by a number of 20th-century scientists Alfred Teltscher, Hermann Swoboda and  Wilhelm Fliess, a German ear, nose and throat practitioner at the turn of the 20th century and a friend and collaborator of Sigmund Freud. #recommended read.

Saturday Snippets!…. It’s Gold!

It just had to be, didn’t it? In honour of the Olympics which I love watching…I am not a sports person …I love Equestrian Events but apart from that and being a Gunner…I don’t watch sport…BUT when the Olympics is on I follow it and watch sports I never would have watched…Why? Because you see the raw passion, the dedication, the team spirit and it moves me…I found myself cheering for Brazil in the single canoe … for a man who was scalded with boiling liquid as a child, kidnapped as a child and now only has one kidney…the sheer will and effort and the pleasure of winning not only his face but on the person who came second to him…That is true unadulterated inclusion and admiration for someone who was just that bit better than him on the day…

That is what the Olympics brings out in these competitors …there are no barriers just respect for a fellow sportsman…It just had to be the word …Gold…

Did I find Gold? I did!… Vegetable Gold, Golden Milk, Gold vermeil, Goldfinger and Shirley Bassey, Prince and so much more…

Saturday Snippets 7th August 2021…It’s Gold!

That’s all for this week thank you so much for joining me…I hope  you are all having a fabulous weekend xx
