Welcome to Saturday Snippets where I indulge my whimsy and my passions… maybe a tune or two…something which has caught my eye this last week…just anything out of the ordinary or extraordinary…I am enjoying just taking a prompt from one word it opens up a whole world and never ceases to surprise me as I hope it does you too…
Come with me and see what I discovered…my word today is…Rainbow…
♦♦♦♦♦
Even now… yes at my age I love seeing a rainbow we get some glorious ones here often in triplicate after a tropical storm…
I will try to keep this post as neutral as possible and not too girlie...sigh as rainbows tend to conjure up lots of girlie images…unicorns and the like…
This is a new tune for me…I will definitely listen to more by South Border…
Rainbow Boa…
This soft-skinned boa has beautiful, iridescent skin. Tiny ridges on the scales act as prisms to refract light and create a rainbow-colored effect. This beautiful Brazilian Rainbow Boa is found in the Amazon River basin, coastal Guyana, French Guiana, Suriname and southern Venezuela. A primarily terrestrial boa, the Brazilian rainbow boa lives in humid woodland forests and can sometimes be found in open savannas.
How beautiful is that?...I would love one of those if I wasn’t so against having animals in captivity now…In the wild, their diet consists of rodents, birds and possibly some forms of aquatic life and lizards. Like other boas, the Brazilian rainbow boa is non-venomous. To capture and consume meals, they ambush and constrict their prey.
Rainbow High…
Is an animated series where 7 girls at Rainbow High must face challenges and learn to flaunt their true colours…The inspiration for the series caomes from Rainbow High which is a modern fashion doll brand that sparks imagination and encourages creativity. ..
Rainbow lorikeet…
A species of the parrot family found in Australia…The Rainbow Lorikeet is unmistakable with its bright red beak and colourful plumage. Both sexes look alike, with a blue (mauve) head and belly, green wings, tail and back, and an orange/yellow breast. They are often seen in loud and fast-moving flocks, or in communal roosts at dusk.
Rainbow Lorikeets are widespread in eastern and northern Australia, and also around Perth…The problem with Rainbow Lorikeets in Perth is that they are aggressive around nesting hollows, preventing native birds from nesting.
Rainbow Cactus…
The rainbow cactus spines are arrayed in a radial pattern with between 15 and 23 spines per areole, practically obscuring the red and white banded stem.
When the cactus flowers, it adds even more color with large, bright blooms. Native to Mexico and southwestern United States (primarily Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas),
Rainbow Icecream…
There just had to be didn’t there…the closest to rainbow icecream when I was kid was neopolitan which was vanilla, strawberry and chocolate…
Now they do wonderful soft whippy icecreams in a beautiful looking array of colours…gelato (which) I love in lots of beautiful colours…
Rainbow Johnson wife…
Rainbow Johnson is an anesthesiologist, the wife of Dre Johnson and mother of Zoey, Junior, Diane, Jack and Devante Johnson.
Rainbow Eucalyptus…
This tree is so very beautiful….it looks like it has been hand painted…
Rainbow eucalyptus grows in the frost-free climates found in Hawaii, the Phillipines and the southern portions of California, Texas and Florida.
Rainbow Valley…
Rainbow Valley Australia… is renowned for its sandstone bluffs and cliffs with bands of different coloured rock… it’s at its most spectacular in the early morning light or late afternoon sun when it changes from ochre red to orange and purple, or after heavy rainfall, when the whole scene is reflected in the claypans.
Rainbow Frog…Kermit!
Rainbow Chillies…
These beautiful chillies are growing in my garden..they have not flowered yet but I can’t wait…Grown for centuries in Bolivia (Central South America), the Bolivian Rainbow chile is a stunningly beautiful plant. The peppers start out a brilliant purple and turn yellow to orange to red, with all stages of the pepper present on the plant at once, making it a bright and colorful addition to your garden or your home.
They can be grown indoors and will produce fruits continuously, year-round. When grown outside, they need a warm climate.
The peppers are small, about 1 inch, and cone-shaped, growing upright on the plant. They somewhat resemble Christmas lights because of their shape and their bright and differing colors. In addition, the foliage and blossoms are purple, making the plant even more unique.
On the scoville scale they range from 10,000-30,000 SHU
Rainbow Galaxy…
Rainbow Trout…
One of my favourite fish lightly fried or steamed it is a beautiful fish…Rainbow trout, also called redband trout, are gorgeous fish, with coloring and patterns that vary widely depending on habitat, age, and spawning condition. They are torpedo-shaped and generally blue-green or yellow-green in color with a pink streak along their sides, white underbelly, and small black spots on their back and fins.
Rainbow Village… Taiwan is an Instagram Hotspot…
Psychedelically colorful Rainbow Village Taichung (彩虹眷村) has in recent years worked its way up to become one of the hottest things to do on a visit to Taiwan.
Somewhere over the rainbow…I couldn’t finish this post without this song…it is one of my favourites …originally sung by Judy Garland it has been covered so many times since…
Judy Garland first recorded “Over the Rainbow” on the MGM soundstages on October 7, 1938, using an arrangement by Murray Cutter. A studio recording of the song, not from the actual film soundtrack, was recorded and released as a single by Decca Records in September of 1939…There have been so very many covers from Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald ,Arianne Grande, Grace Kelly to name but a few…I opted for this man…
I hope you enjoy!
Conclusion…The word rainbow threw up so very many possibilities like Rainbow Cakes which are very popular at the moment, so many bands good and bad, animals galore , like male mandrills , peacock mantis shrimp, the wattle-cup caterpillar , Greater earless lizards, the blue-ringed octopus, male Gouldian finches , The Mandarin fish Male peacock spider, The red-eyed tree frog ,the lilac breasted roller the list is practically endless…
A rainbow fruit/vegetable platter makes a stunning centre piece on any table…Many of us will remember Rainbow which was a British children’s television series with Zippy, George, Bungle and Rod, Jane and Freddy…Rainbow dolls,…Rainbow lego and now we have rainbow widgets…
What was your favourite Rainbow food, toy, tv show or band/song…Let me know in comments…
I had fun writing this post as it prompted a few memories…I hope you enjoyed the read…
See you tomorrow for my weekly roundup, thank you for popping in have a great evening xxx

those rainbow chiles are beautiful – I hope they taste good as well…

We used to fish Rainbow Trout with my dad. Fishing was his favorite way to relax. When he passed away, I found comfort thinking he was up there showing the angels how it’s done 🙂
The Eucalyptus is amazing! We have one (much smaller) but it has a silvery trunk, not the rainbow hues.
Enjoyed this post, and now I think I need to add Rainbow to my list of heroine’s names!

How lovely Jacquie that you have such fond memories of your father fishing for Rainbow trout…I absolutely love the Rainbow eucalyptus I would think even a silvery trunk would be quite lovely though 🙂 x
