CarolCooks2…Silent Night continued…with some contemporary and modern versions.

I love Christmas Carol’s and when I was a choir girl it was one of my favourite times of the year…Silent Night has always been a favourite of mine sadly no recording exists of that very first performance, but the song quickly spread through Europe. In fact, “Silent Night” has been recorded at least 733 times over the past 36 years alone.

Today I have a few more tracks of “Silent Night ” which I hope you enjoy! x

My first one is sung by Carly Simon…”Nobody Does It Better”…her version of Silent Night hits the right chords for me…Enjoy!

She is also a children’s author… her first book was Amy the Dancing Bear. Since then, she has published several more titles, including 1997’s Midnight Farm.

Pentatonix is number two on my list which in no particular order these are all great(I think) Over to Pentatonix who needs no introduction…

How did they get their name...Pentatonix, as suggested by Scott Hoying, is named after the pentatonic scale, a musical scale or mode with five notes per octave, representing the five members of the group…very apt…

The three tenors need no introduction their voices are pure magic…

I have long been a fan of Tom Jones…this clip features a very young Tom Jones who I must say has matured very well don’t you agree ladies..those eyes and that voice…

Now for a jazz version of Silent Night although I love traditional versions of Silent Night there are many contemporary and modern versions which I like as well…I hope you enjoy xx

I hope you have enjoyed these not so traditional versions of “Silent Night”…Have a great weekend xx

These posts have reminded me of when I had to sing a solo of ‘Away In A Manger’ during a junior school nativity play. I was very nervous, forgot some words, and it put me off carols for life. 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete. x

Oh dear, Pete.. My first solo with the church choir was nerve racking and the girl who started with me stopped once she knew I was ok.. But I can understand how you feel x

Some excellent versions all around. My favorite was Pentatonix, as I do love harmonies. Your reference to Nobody Does It Better reminded me that I hadn’t heard that superb tune in years. That’s where I’m heading next.

Pentatonix is just so exceptional. I love all the old beautiful Christmas carols. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas Carol, and a Happy and Healthy New Year. I look forward to another year with you.
