Day 21 of #bloganuary…Today’s prompt is… What is your favourite quote and why?
Way back when I first started blogging I used quotes as a tag line…Personally, I have a few quotes which I love but I couldn’t say without a doubt one particular quote is that one…
This quote “Growing older is inevitable. Growing up is optional!”…was the one I used on my second ever blog post…like many quotes, there is not always a definitive answer as to whom it is attributed to…this is one such quote…
It had been said although there is no evidence that “Growing old is inevitable, but growing up is optional.” is attributed to Walt Disney (1901-1966), the famous animator… that is quite believable as the aim of Walt Disney whose work and theme parks are focused on capturing (or recapturing) a child’s sense of wonder and delight would make it quite credible.
Lacking any definitive, verifiable written source, one can only conclude that this is an apocryphal quotation, most likely written by some anonymous individual, that has been circulating on the Internet for at least 20 years…
Why do I like it ?…
Because we should make the moments count…Make big things out of small things, Make someone smile, make sure you have no regrets, Live life and let live, enjoy and be grateful…and don’t forget “dance in the rain” as “Growing older is inevitable. Growing up is optional!
This post is part of the WordPress Bloganuary Challenge 2022 where everyone is provided with a writing prompt each day. Today’s prompt was to write about…? What is your favourite quote and why?

Great quote—no reason to dwell on our age. I concentrate on staying active and using my mind.

Age is just a number, Pete and yes as long as we concentrate on staying active in body and mind it will stand us in good stead..Fingers crossed 🙂 x

I love that quote, Carol. Why should aging be associated with a lack of fun? Maybe if adults had more fun in their lives, they wouldn’t always be fighting, polluting, and wrecking the world for kids. 🙂 Have a great weekend!

Not sure who said it originally, maybe the iconic Film Director Werner Herzog, but here it is: “life is an illusion behind which lies the reality of dreams”

Mine has always been a line from an Oscar Wilde play.
“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars”.
Best wishes, Pete. x

That’s a wonderful quote – unfortunately for some however, growing old is not inevitable (I work in Pediatrics – it’s a very sad truth).
