Welcome to Monday Musings…which could be anything that has happened throughout the last week, something I have read or watched, could be a pet peeve or almost anything.. welcome to my world!
I am really happy that there are music blogs on here as I have been introduced to so many artists that I would have been oblivious to for probably the remainder of my days…Coupled with some lovely stills…I was introduced to TobyMac…
Elements…Priorhouse Blog…a stunning video with matching stills…
I hope you enjoyed this track and the matching stills…x
I love mushrooms of all kinds…There are bog-standard button mushrooms and brown mushrooms plus exotic ones most of which are available here…There are also very rare and expensive mushrooms and as with most things, there are ok ones and the perfect specimens of the Matsutake Mushroom…
This video is really interesting as the Mitsutake only grows where red pine trees grow…the forests due to disease and lack of forestry management is why the Matsutake is in decline…
Valentines Day…14 the February…
Just over a week away…do you go all out and have a swanky meal out or do you cook at home or is it just another Monday?
For everyone who is staying in either because of the weather or just because here is a lovely recipe for an easy starter…plus a couple of ideas…
if it is chilly where you live or because you love soup then a lovely bowl of tomato soup with heart-shaped croutons could be just the thing.
Or do a lovely heart-shaped swirl with some soured cream which would look very pretty.
If you are seafood lovers then a lovely seafood platter is easy to do and looks quite spectacular.
Some smoked salmon, a few plump mussels, lovely grilled prawns, soft squid there is so much lovely seafood to choose from just a little of each arranged on a platter with maybe a nice drizzle of seafood sauce or a chilli sauce.
This quick little soy sauce is nice to drizzle …Finely cut a clove of garlic or two and a small piece of chopped fresh ginger, fry in a small pan, stirring to release the flavours add scant tbsp soy sauce and a half to one tbsp honey stirring and cook for 2 mins add a squeeze of lime..just taste and play with the flavours. Then drizzle as pictured…
Thank you for joining me for Monday Musings…I hope your week has started well…xx

I’ve made plans, but not necessarily for Valentine’s Day. I’ll just be happy to have some time to share, love and care. …I may even try the chicken lemon

I am always in awe of nature and how, why and where foods grow and thrive we do indeed live in a wonderful world and certainly don’t appreciate nature enough or not enough of us do… 🙂

First time I’ve heard or seen the TobyMac song. I’m not usually a rap guy, but I’d call it a combo song with rap elements, but the video is fantastic with some fantastic shots. I also like the message of “I’m gonna go down swingin’.”

Your seafood drizzle sounds delicious. We don’t get too many kinds of decent seafood around here, but if I can find some wild caught salmon I’ll try it for a Valentine Day dinner. Thanks

We never make too much of Valentines’ Day. Although we buy each other cards, we stopped buying gifts or eating out once we moved from London to Norfolk. We do make more of birthdays and anniversaries, but Valentine’s Day is over-hyped here.
Best wishes, Pete.

Though we do buy each other a gift, and might have a celebratory meal, for the most part it’s just another day to us. We buy each other stuff regularly, and show each other we love each other every day, so don’t need a special date for that.
