Monday Musings…14th March 2022…

Welcome to Monday Musings…which could be about anything that has happened throughout the last week, something I have read or watched, it could be a pet peeve or almost anything.. welcome to my world!

Every day I am looking at recipes and reading recipes … the internet is a wonderful thing as you can find the recipe for almost anything…I grew up measuring in lb’s and ounces…I have since then mainly converted to gms or a mix of the two…Then I come across a recipe which says I stick of butter plus 2 tbs…???…Please give me a break…sigh…

I am lucky if I can get anything other than those tiny catering sizes of butter let alone sticks?…and when I do they certainly are not marked up like those in the images…

One stick weighs 110 gms or 3.88 ounces…Those measurements are now written everywhere until it is engraved on my brain…lol

Part Two… Who Profits from Fake Meat?

It was interesting to listen to the taste tester’s thoughts on the taste…based on that I just think it’s an expensive gimmick that takes advantage of those who want to cut down on meat and eat a more plant-based diet…

I love ” Rod Stewart” I have been a fan since the early days…I’m sure someone will have something to say about this but I have driven along that road many, many times and it’s now fixed…Good on you Rod…

That’s all for today short and sweet like me…lol…I look forward to your comments as always…see you tomorrow for another Chicken Recipe…x

Great story! The only thing that would have been better is if you were driving it at the time, looked out the car window, and saw Rod Stewart. 😍

I also love Rod Stewart, darling. As to fake meat, I got used to it years ago, when I was still using dairy products. Since kosher law does not allow mixing meat and dairy, fake meat allowed me the freedom to try all kinds of recipes calling for meat with cheese. Then we simply got used to fake ground beef, fake chicken strips, and Tofurky deli. It is also half the price of the real ones, and my husband can’t have real meat, other than chicken breast.

Rod got a lot of flak on Twitter for whatever he said about filling in the potholes. (I didn’t read the story) I have never heard of a ‘stick’ of butter. We only use butter on new potatoes and mash. (Julie might use it in baking, but I never bake.)
    Best wishes, Pete. x

I’ve been a vegetarian my whole life for health reasons. When I turned 18 I found out that I had a very serious kidney disease due to a gene mutation which I unfortunately also passed on to my son. Being vegetarian was actually recommended by my nephrologist 🥰💪🏻 since I literally don’t know what meat tastes like… I don’t miss it at all. I’m raising my son to be a vegetarian too, my husband doesn’t eat meat though and that’s 100% okay with us. I raise chickens for my husband and I to butcher so that he is able to eat healthier too. My son and I absolutely love some of the fake meat selections. You have to be careful about sodium content however, some of the options are really good for you! It’s a fabulous alternative that allows us to eat as a family regardless of what’s on out plates. Furthermore, my husband actually enjoys some of the vegetarian options over the real deal too 💪🏻. So to answer your question on who benefits from it… we do! On another note… I love the recipes you come up with because it helps give me lots of ideas for my husband and I can substitute the meat options for the vegetarian versions for my son and I 🥰 so thanks bunches for all that you do!

Good musings, Carol. I always saw T on butter wrappers. That’s how it was done! But it is odd, innit. And the fake meat–I can’t get past all the chemicals and unnatural stuff I’d be putting in my body.

Absolutely, Jacquie there is also the sustainability of the crops used for plant based meat so many variables I think I would rather go without or make a palatable vegetable one myself …

I think the highways come under the County Council but whoever is responsible is doing a very poor job – just look at the state of the road in that video! 😊 x

That’s what I’ve been told, as well. Of course, everything is in American conversion. I have no utensils to measure that way except a small food scale. You should have seen me when I lived in England. 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️ I really need to learn some of the conversations.
