I first saw this on Jim Borden’s blog...I have now watched the film and loved it…
CODA won two Oscars, one for Best Movie and one for Best Supporting Actor…Troy Kotsur.
Kotsur, who is deaf, was greeted with silent applause…
This video clip shows the interview and how important it is for us to be inclusive…I have written about this a few times on my blog and still believe sign language should be part of school curriculums …
I loved this film…it was amazing and of course I needed tissues…I would also like to say we will miss you Jim and the lively commentary your blogs attracted…I understand that sometimes life takes over as it must…I wish you luck Jim and do hope you will return at some point even for a once a month blog post …Good Luck and Good Health for the future x
I think this is a great idea…A Human Library…
Only on John Rieber’s blog…A Lobster Mountain…
I always look forward to John’s posts as I never know what he will surprise us with he finds the coolest things and sometimes the weirdest things…
This lobster mountain was certainly that although the little gremlin in my head was saying “waste” and I did wonder just how much food was wasted here…Just Saying!
The unjustified war on Ukraine really upsets me…But the bravery and unity of the people of Ukraine led by their president fill me with hope as well as great sadness for the senseless killing…Julian Lennon performed his late father John Lennon’s song Imagine for the first time ever on Saturday to raise funds for Ukrainian refugees.
I have always loved this song and Julian has done his dad proud with his version of his father’s song “Imagine”…
Good for Julian Lennon, keeping his father’s legacy alive by helping Ukraine.
I have to say, I had to watch the lobster mountain video all the way through. It looked quite disgusting.

I agree Liz he chose the right time to sing his fathers song…I wasn’t enamoured by the lobster mountain food like that is more of a gimic 🙂 x

I don’t like restaurants’ encouraging gluttony. (And the US wonders why it has an obesity problem.)

Absolutely, Liz… The answer I got was it was for a group of people when I wondered about waste but I would rather have my own food rather than a mountain to share..

That interview was amazing, Carol. Thanks for showing it. I’d heard of the movie but haven’t seen it. Since the pandemic, /some/ of our most important news broadcasts have included an Auslan [Australian sign language] interpreter, and I totally agree with you that signing /should/ be taught at school. Apart from anything else, I think the kids would love it. To be honest, I’m almost tempted myself. 🙂

I’ve just discovered [thanks Offspring] that you can ‘rent’ movies on Youtube so once the price comes down I’ll definitely watch it. 🙂

Pingback: Monday Musing’s…11th April 2022…CODA, a Human Library, a Monster Lobster Mountain and “Imagine” by Julian Lennon… – MobsterTiger
I have Apple TV+ and really need to watch CODA – yours is the latest of the many good things I’ve heard about it. One of the recommendations was from Jim, and I share your hope that we will see him back again – it would be good to see him go for a new record posting streak! And I agree on Julian Lennon: that is a lovely version of a song which never loses its power or relevance.

I’m sure I will, as an Oscar and all those recommendations can’t be wrong!
Fingers crossed for Jim.
You could hear Julian’s father in that, couldn’t you 😊 x

It was heartwarming to see that film beat the big studio productions to the Oscars. It gave me renewed hope for more original films in the future.
Best wishes, Pete. x

I watched that interview on the Drew Barrymore show the other day while working out at the gym. I love both Troy Kotsur and Marlee Matlin.
