Welcome to my weekly roundup which starts in May and finishes in June…Wow, I can’t believe we are in June already halfway through the year…the rainy season here is in full swing but I am still managing to get my 10,000 steps done sometimes in 2 parts as I set out between the downpours…the plants and the grass are loving the rain though…
Monday Musings…I was due for a rant…haha…you all know that I really dislike waste especially when it can be avoided plus there shouldn’t be all these children going to sleep hungry and waking up hungry its a travesty…I know it goes back decades as if we dared leave anything on our plates as children my mother or father would give us a reminder that there were starving children in the world but that also makes me sad as it has gone on for far too long ..all the “Feed the World” benefit concerts etc…which makes me beg the question..where does the money go and why haven’t these crisis been sorted???
Monday Musings…30th May 2022…Time for a rant..be warned…
This led me on to Tuesday’s post as again my mother and grandmother got more than one meal out of a chook(chicken)…plus if food shortages really hit us and they are starting around the world we are seeing gaps in store shelves…we will need our store cupboards and we will need to bulk out our proteins and learn how to stretch what we have into more than one meal…plus it will save us money now costs elsewhere are rising…
CarolCooks2 in my Kitchen…Take One Chicken and make 4 meals…
The DRC...in places this country is war-torn and I nearly didn’t write this post however chefs are emerging and photographers as the video I shared shows..people who have suffered horrendous trauma and injuries are saying we are here and this is what we are doing…I salute those brave souls as they are not letting circumstances dictate the rest of their lives…
This week in my kitchen ...Part 4 of Store cupboard Basics…Dried lentils, beans and peas could end up being an essential meal and they bulk up our proteins, they also provide fibre and keep us healthy…

Friday Food Reviews ...Natural Cheese V Processed Cheese( prepared cheese)…far more than I originally thought of as processed cheese was in that list but some processes are beneficial and stop bacteria but we should apply moderation…its the cheese slices and that gloopy cheese which are the big culprits but again I use cheese slices the best ones I can buy on occasion the gloop and processed mac n cheeses I give a wide berth to and never buy…I am up to that stage of my life where I wish to stay as healthy as I can for as long as I can hence I avoid as much processed crap as I can…

Saturday Snippets is one of my favourite posts where I pick a one-word prompt and see what I can connect to that word… it’s fun and educational to write I always learn something new…this week was no exception…I hope you enjoy my findings xx
Saturday Snippets…4th June 2022…Today’s one-word prompt is “Star”
Thank you for joining me today...the first week of June and it is “National Cheese Day today and National Frozen Yoghurt Day…I love frozen Yoghurt…and cheese…sigh…As always I look forward to your comments…I hope to see you next week xx

Real food vs. processed food got me thinking. What is processed food? Literally it is anything that goes through a machine and would include anything from Velveeta cheese to spaghetti. I get the difference between Processed food and whole food. But when I pit my spinach dip in the food processor doesn’t it become processed for. Maybe better nomenclature is preserved food for chemical additives. What do you think Carole.

This is quite a round-up.
I try to stay away from processed foods, and you can bet there are always several different kinds of cheeses in my fridge.
You are a “star” in the kitchen, Carol! Thanks for all this. :-D.
