Welcome to my weekly roundup …July is well and truly here… the sun is still shining and it’s predicted to be getting even warmer…the weather warnings are out…it seems some of the country’s infrastructure is not built for the predicted heatwave… it’s a good job I came prepared with flip-flops and sundresses…I will be going back to see my mother and sister tomorrow until Wednesday…Derbyshire, here I come and then it’s back to Essex and the seaside(Clacton) on Thursday to see a dear friend and to enjoy some cockles and winkles…I may even have a paddle…
I know for some of you it’s mid-winter with soups and stews on the menus…at home, it’s the rainy season interspersed with some sun for me here its wall-to-wall sunshine as it seems sunny days have followed me…
Let’s start the roundup with Monday Musings…
Where today I shared Sally’s post about obesity and her journey it is honest and heartbreaking in places…as you know obesity is not just about being overweight it is about the health issues that happen as a result, plus the dental industry is appalled at the teeth of many children due to the amount of sugar they consume…Obesity is a worldwide problem and one which should be tackled because of the cost to struggling health and welfare services around the world…
There was an update on the progress of the restoration of the beautiful gothic cathedral of Notre Dame plus a video of one of my favourite films and songs…Enjoy!
Monday Musings…11th July 2022…
Tuesday is normally chicken recipes...however, as you know my stay in the Uk has been extended due to unforeseen circumstances…which meant that I came to the end of my scheduled posts and am strapped for time and am definitely not doing too much cooking…however if anyone has any chicken recipes they would love to share it would help me out and promote your blog so please send me those links and I will share them over the next two Tuesdays...however, instead of chicken I took the opportunity to share Smorgasbords wonderful weekly roundup and what a treat that is for you all…something for everyone so please enjoy by clicking the highlighted link below…
Wednesday saw one of the last of my scheduled posts and my virtual tour of my culinary A-Z of world cuisines that took us to the lovely little country of Djibouti formally French Somaliland…
Djiboutian cuisine is a mixture of Somali, Afar, Yemeni, and French cuisine, with some additional South Asian (especially Indian) culinary influences. Local dishes are commonly prepared using a variety of Middle Eastern spices, ranging from saffron to cinnamon…two of my most used spices…Enjoy!

Dried herbs and stock(bouillon) are essentials that I certainly can’t do without…

Friday product reviews…Nakd Bars…
Nakd Bars…a first for me as I am not a fan of cereal bars per se…however on our long journey to Cornwall my son produced these…Nakd Bars…of course, I didn’t disappoint my normal views on cereal bars sprouted forth…lol…
A whole food Revolution they stated boldly on the packet…the list of ingredients was clear and short…Raw fruit and nut bars containing blueberries…Hunger overrode my normal refusal of such a bar and it was actually quite good…I am never going to enthuse over a cereal bar, am I? But they were ok and I have purchased a packet or two to take back home for the grand kiddos to try…Will I be able to get them at home we shall see but this little company of young people are onto a winner here…Nakd Bars…

Saturday Snippets are one of my favourite posts of the week to write…a one-word prompt supplied by my muse or any one of you who would like to offer a suggestion…feel free!
This week was a “secret”…
An enchanting post to pen…one of my favourite books as a child was “A Secret Garden” as was the serial on the TV…I loved it and was enthralled by the story…The novel centres on Mary Lennox, who is living in India with her wealthy British family. She is a selfish and disagreeable 10-year-old girl who has been spoiled by her servants and neglected by her unloving parents. When a cholera epidemic kills her parents and the servants, Mary is orphaned…
There were lots of other “secrets” too…Do you have a secret?
Benjamin Franklin once said, “Three can keep a secret if two of them are dead.” …
Saturday Snippets…16th July 2022…Today’s one-word prompt is “Secret”
Thank you for joining me today…its a tad cold this morning for me but hopefully it will warm up later…I am out for lunch(again) with Lauren and my granddaughters…who are so grown up now…As always I look forward to your comments and don’t forget if you have a lovely chicken recipe you would love to share I am looking for chicken recipes for the next two Tuesdays please send the link to me and I will be happy to share it…Enjoy your Sunday wherever you are…See you tomorrow for Monday Musings xoxo
-giggles- I never thought I’d see the day when ANYONE calls the British summer ‘wall to wall sunshine’!!!! Saw a bit on the news last night talking about the heatwave and I actually wondered how the Brits would cope because if you’re not used to it, the heat really can kill. Fingers crossed it’s over soon.
