Welcome to my weekly roundup …July is nearly over tomorrow is the 1st of August… it is National Raspberry Pie Day(US) I do love raspberries they are one of my favourite fruits in the UK it is a holiday on the 1st for those in Scotland and not too many food days maybe more sun is expected and its summer holidays for many but September is choc a bloc and I did see somewhere there was a bacon day…well, I love bacon, good bacon and while in the UK I had a few lovely bacon sandwiches as bacon is so much better there than here…of all the foods I yearned for bacon was one of the only ones that I will still miss plus fish and chips cos there is nothing like eating great fish and chips out of paper while sitting on the seafront…
Starting the week as always with my Monday Musings…
Last week I shared the good news that we are to become great grandparents for the first time in January 2023 plus news of The Earth shot Prize that was founded by our own Prince William and Sir David Attenborough a staunch crusader for the natural world…The prize-giving ceremony will be held in Boston(US) in December this year…There was also lots of global good news.
Monday Musings 25th July 2022…
Tuesday is chicken recipes day…last week Dolly from Koolkosherkitchen helped me out with her lovely “Chicken without a Hat” recipe…
I am a big fan of koolkosherkitchen…I not only love Dolly’s recipes but adore and learn so much from the stories that go with the recipes…This delightful chicken recipe is no different a beautiful story and chicken dish…Please follow the highlighted link below to read the story and the recipe…xx

Wednesday it was time for my fortnightly virtual tour and it was the island of Dominica…
It is also known as the “Nature Island” where fresh fruit and vegetables grow in abundance and are dominant in Dominica’s cuisine although with its Creole roots the food has lots of these beautiful Creole flavours…my kind of food.
CarolCooks2…A-Z World Cuisines…Part 20…Dominica…
I am a huge fan of Smorgasbord Magazine and Sally’s health posts…I was one of those mothers who didn’t allow my children sodas apart from birthdays and Christmas apart from that it was water with meals and in between with sometimes homemade fruit drinks for a treat and after reading Sally’s posts on the consequences of allowing children to consume excessive amounts of sodas I am so pleased as it makes for scary reading but a post we should read…
In part four of this series, Sally looks at how critical it is to get the diet right for the 7 – 14 age range for both boys and girls for their overall health and immune systems. Millions of children are getting packed lunches, and a large percentage of those are sugar-laden and nutritionally deficient.
This week Sally shares the impact on a child’s body of a high sugar diet and lack of nutrition in relation to their brain development and hormone production as they head into puberty.
Store Cupboard Basics…Part 11 looked at what else we can store in our freezers…my freezers are an extension of my dry store cupboard and are particularly handy if you grow your own herbs and veggies as we all know that they tend to be ready for harvest all at once so to prevent waste and to allow us to eat our carefully tended veggies out of season…the freezer is ideal…
I find mine useful for herbs, bananas, seeds and nuts and fruit…but you can also freeze milk, bread and eggs…
This week in my Kitchen…Store Cupboard Basics…Part 11…More on what we can store in our Freezer…
Saturday Snippets…
One of my favourite posts to write… I love a one word prompt and all that I find connected to that one word…Yesterday that word was “Magic”
A word that conjured up childhood thoughts of enchanted magical forests, magicians …I know magic is sleight of hand but if done well it has always fascinated me…Magic(noun) is the power of apparently influencing the course of events by using mysterious or supernatural forces…” suddenly, as if by magic, the doors start to open”
Saturday Snippets…30th July 2022…Today’s one-word prompt is “ Magic”
Thank you so much for joining me today as always I look forward to your comments…now I am back home I will be visiting your blogs more regularly…my flights home were far less traumatic than my flights going to the UK although I did lose my phone the upside is I could remember the last time I had my phone( check-in) and Thai Smile phoned yesterday to confirm yes they did and that they would send it to me…how’s that for service? an answer to my email within 2 hours…I was most impressed and will definitely fly with them again…
See you tomorrow for Monday Musings have a lovely Sunday 🙂 xx
Another fine week, Carol. My wife hit 36 years together on Tuesday. It’s been a great ride so far. She is a terrific woman, and I don’t take her for granted.

Congrats on being great grandparents
And the fish and chips on the seafront sounds like quite the experience
😉
Also – Your post reminded that not all bacon is the same – no way –
And earlier today there was leftover warm bacon grease and i dipped pork rinds in it (I don’t eat them too often but they were right there) anyhow it was so good but kind of funny

Thank you and yes fish and chips by the sea is a great experience and it tastes soooo good. Absolutely the bacon here is best avoided its soooo thin you can see through it…A nice treat then and why not…I don’t eat pork rinds often either but I’m sure the bacon fat elevated the taste…yum 🙂
