CarolCooks2 weekly roundup… 31st July -6th August 2022-Monday Musings, Health, Obesity, Store Cupboard Basics …More freezer tips… and Saturday Snippets where “Tickle” is my one word prompt.…

Welcome to my weekly roundup …August has arrived…August was originally named Sextilis it was later renamed after Julius Augustus, the first Roman emperor it seems the sun is still shining in the UK…which means BBQs are still on the menu or beautiful healthy salads…For some August brings the best bounty of the season—ripened tomatoes, ripe melon, sweet corn on the cob, and zucchini, summer squash, eggplant, peaches to name but a few…in 4 days’ time the end of “Dog Days of Summer” is marked…

Although we should be doing all we can to preserve the “Honey Bees” …August 20th is “World Honeybee Day” where I’m sure there will be many tips and ideas on how we can play our part in the preservation of the honeybee…Here are a few tips on how we can play our part…

Monday Musings…

Last Monday there were no fun things or recipes but rather the bare necessities of life…originally sung by Phil Harris (Baloo)and Bruce Reitherman (Mowgli) in the 1967 Disney film Jungle Book…Monday Musings however was slightly more serious…a plea for something very close to my heart Scanning for breast cancer – Sign the Petition! chng.it/vKjWSyVB plus the scale of “Factory Farming”, and a look at the diet and lifestyle of “The Inuit” people who I hope against hope that they never fall foul of the pitfalls of processed foods and the like as it will be detrimental to their good health.

Monday Musings 1st August 2022…

Tuesday is the day for Chicken Recipes…

Chicken is such a very versatile protein it has little fat(unless we add it)…a healthy alternative to red meat…  low in saturated fat, contains higher amounts of omega-6 fatty acids than other animal meats, and is high in protein and essential vitamins and minerals such as B6, B12, iron, zinc, and copper…Today I am sharing a recipe by Tandy who blogs at Lavender and Lime…

Tandy’s Chicken and Chorizo Pasta…

Saturday Snippets…

Today’s word prompt is “ Tickle” for me there is nothing like the sound of a baby or child being tickled it makes me smile at just the sheer happiness and joy…I also thought of Ken Dodd…my father always watched it and he did have the knack for being entirely stupid but it made people laugh…there was his tickling stick and the diddy men…and if you are younger then maybe you remember ” Mr Tickle” by Roger Hargreaves…it was noted and I was congratulated on not mentioning “Slap and Tickle” although it is something many of us still enjoy!

Saturday Snippets 6th August 2022…Today’s one-word prompt is “Tickle”

Thank you for joining me today ...I hope you found something to make you smile as laughter is the best medicine and in today’s world very often we don’t find much to laugh about however I have decided that the things I cannot do anything about I will not allow to dampen my day…Have a lovely Sunday wherever you are and share a smile …xxx
