CarolCooks2 weekly roundup… 28th August -3rd September 2022-Monday Musings, Aubergine and Potato Curry, Health, Morbid Obesity,,Aromatic Leaves…and Saturday Snippets where “Light” is my one word prompt.

Hello and welcome to my weekly roundup of posts you may have missed during the week…September is here...the start of high season and sunshine for some and the start of shorter nights and colder days for others…

September is the ninth month of the year it is also Classical Music month and personally, I love classical music …lots of food months in September like potatoes, rice, mushrooms, Italian Cheese, honey, chicken, and whole grains all foods I like…September, in Old England, was called Haervest-monath (Harvest Month). This is the time to gather up the rest of the harvest and prepare for the winter month for those of you who are in the Southern Hemisphere…

Very importantly September 21st is International Peace Day…

A day where there will be a moment of silence at noon to events such as peace walks, concerts, and volunteering in the community…it would be my dearest wish before I leave this earth to know that peace reigns throughout the world…rose coloured glasses I know because during the whole of my lifetime I have never known peace throughout the world…BUT we should all strive for it and not support hate and anger as that hasn’t a place in my world and it shouldn’t in yours…on a personal note September is my birth month and also our wedding anniversary…

Monday Musings…

Food and music are two of the greatest pleasures in my life…in Monday’s Musings this week there was a beautiful lamb recipe from John and music from “Daryl’s House ” courtesy of Sal… Thank you gentleman but do not forget the lovely Clive who always brings me new songs and artists to enjoy… not only that he found the link to Daryl’s House and I can now watch Daryl’s House and what a joy it is I have long been a fan of Hall and Oates and this show is such a treat…music at its best…unedited and from the soul…

Monday Musing…29th August 2022…Food and Music!

Tuesday was the first of my vegetable recipes…Aubergine and Potato Curry.

The beautiful purple aubergine/eggplant is my new favourite vegetable…it no longer requires pre- salting which is a bonus it is also a vegetable I have not cooked with often…that has now changed and I am loving the meals I have discovered using the aubergine… this aubergine and potato curry was lovely and the garam masala powder went up a notch as I used my newest addition to my spice cupboard the Indian Bay Leaf it made a huge difference to the flavour profile…I hope you enjoy it!

Those of you who know me know I love chillies but above all, I love tasty food and that to me means adding herbs and spices…I also love finding new herbs and spices ones I haven’t cooked with before…aromatic leaves are something I use a lot in my cooking …Last week and for a couple weeks I will be sharing aromatic leaves that I use and maybe some new ones around the world as many cultures use aromatic leaves for cooking food in like the turmeric leaf and for adding to a dish either for colour or taste we have pandan leaves or lemongrass…so please come and join me for this week’s aromatic leaves…

This week I shared the Pandan leaf, Lemongrass, Turmeric leaf and Betel leaf…some recipes using these aromatic leaves plus a recipe for lemongrass with tofu for my readers who follow a vegan diet…

Saturday Snippets…

It’s now officially Saturday here..Smile…I know some of you got this post yesterday as I got the day wrong…September came in much too quickly and must have flummoxed me plus I fell over which meant I didn’t do my normal last-minute check of a post before it is published…I would then have spotted the date…But hey ho these things happen but I am ok and thank you to those who asked…just sporting some lovely bruises but the lump on my shin is going down…ice packs have worked their magic…x
