Good morning and welcome to Saturday Snippets where my muse struts her stuff and gives me a word…A one-word prompt and I haven’t clue where she got this one from I like to keep the old grey matter working but hey muse give me a break…so come with me and see just what I have found …Starting with well I’ll tell you what the music won’t be…nothing to with zombies and no Leona Lewis with her bleeding heart…
The bleeding Heart Plant…is one of the prettiest plants and although it is native to tropical west Africa from Cameroon west to Senegal…it grows in many other places I used to have it in my garden in the UK and I’m sure many of you have a plant in your gardens…unfortunately it is also toxic…
Bleeding heart plants contain isoquinoline alkaloids that are toxic to humans and animals. Serious cases of poisoning are common in dogs and horses, but much less common in humans. The toxins in bleeding heart plants can cause liver damage and seizures in humans when ingested in large quantities…HOWEVER and there is always that as long as they are cooked the young spring leaves are edible…
Bleeding Jigsaw Chilli…I think everyone now knows that I love chillies…this one is such pretty chilli …quite new for a chilli so if you buy seeds buy them from a reputable source I know that from experience as all seeds look alike and give no indication as to what they will produce and I am testament to that as the lovely rainbow chillies that I hoped would bloom and grow pretty colours are bog standard red chillies…of varying sizes depending on the plant now I could have been scammed or the seeds may have come from a rainbow chilli plant but if it isn’t stable then it could return to type and that’s where I got my bog standard chillies…
One of the very nice Bubblegum varieties with excellent aroma and massive heat. The pods mature from green to beautiful bright peach colour. One of the most amazing and eye-catching varieties ever grown…The guy in the above video didn’t seem to think it was that hot he probably has a high tolerance for chillies on the Scoville scale with a heat level maxed out at 2,200,000 SHUs that one bad boy chilli…
Beetroot Bleeds…Beets are one of my favourite vegetables, I love them roasted as a side, and I love eating them just warm with a little salt while I pickle them, beetroot chutney is out of this world delicious… baking cakes and tarts beetroot is good…my favourite smoothie is beet and Orange. beets pair beautifully with horseradish to make a lovely tartare the only downside is it always splashes and always when you have a white top on…it is used as a colouring and if you don’t wear gloves when peeling them it bleeds onto your fingers and is a joy to get out…
You can eat the leaves colour your gnocchi or hummus …the humble beet has so many uses and it’s good for us…
Bleeding Celery a Halloween Trick…Halloween is coming…
I am a fan of Linkin Park…
The Mystery of Blood Falls…Blood Falls is in Antarctica…Blood Falls, named for its ruddy colour, is not in fact a gush of blood from some unseen wound..that is bleeding and it has long been a mystery…
It had initially been thought to be some type of red algae but new research into why the water flows and runs red instead of freezing concludes that due to underground conditions this iron-filled water that flows has a perfectly reasonable explanation..isn’t science wonderful?
Thank you for joining me today for Saturday Snippets I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and as always I look forward to your comments x

I agree with Clive about the music this week. I loved all three of them. I’m a big Linkin Park fan, and Chester’s passing in 2017 was a huge loss. I wonder if they’ll ever try to replace him.
What an interesting pepper! I’ve never seen one that color before.

Florida often has a problem with red algae, they refer to it as the red tide. apparently it is not very healthy to be in the water when it is there…

Yes I have heard that about the algae we visited Florida a number of years ago now and there was a problem with the algae.

and here I thought it was a more recent problem; I guess there’s not much they can do to stop it from happening…
