Monday Musings…7th November 2022…

Good Morning…and welcome to Monday Musings… a place where my inner child comes out and also where anything which has wowed or dismayed me has happened over the last week…

Haha…This made me smile although it could have caused a nasty accident…Luckily it didn’t I can just imagine driving down the street and seeing this huge silver ball coming towards me it must have been surreal…

To anyone who has put up their Christmas tree already,,, Bah Humbug!…it’s too early! Just saying!

I just can’t believe how quickly this year has passed by we are in the 11th month of the year…it marks the beginning of the winter holiday season for most folks, even if the winter solstice doesn’t occur until late December…21st of December to be exact unless of course you hail from the southern hemisphere and then the winter solstice occurs on June 20 or 21…

However, in my head, I am still in UK time and even though it’s warmer here(a lot) I still adhere to certain lifelong traditions and make Christmas Cakes and puddings…this year I have decided to make a square cake rather than try and make individual round cakes as they were quite dry and I think if I make a square cake I can portion it up into individual little cakes…all my Thai neighbours/friends love the bread pudding, mince pies and sausage rolls and hopefully their individual Chrismas cakes this year…I still think it’s too early to put the tree up!

Stir Up Sunday…November 21st 2022…

Since the Victorian era, it has been a day of family celebration and cooking! Traditionally, family members would stir the pudding and make wishes for the new year on this day. Besides delicious family bonding, the day offers a chance to get ahead and cross off at least one item on your Christmas to-do list — pudding!

Here are my recipes as a reminder to get your ingredients together all ready for Stir-up Sunday…

Finally, this is a joint little rant from myself and Pete...who couldn’t have expressed it better…The British Prime Minister initially wasn’t going to attend Cop 27 but for the wrong reasons(although) I do think the economy is just as important…If he had used his head he could have suggested a zoom meeting and won brownie points on so many levels it would have been better for everyone…in 2020 the UN general assembly was a virtual meeting as was the White House climate summit…why not Cop 27 although it’s too late now …

These were the points raised as to why COP 26 wasn’t virtual…Representatives from many developing countries have spoken of concerns that an online Cop would fail to produce the pressure on countries needed to make them strengthen their goals.

Thank you for joining me today for Monday Musing’s as always I look forward to your comments…x

I don’t think the argument about developing countries being unable to participate in an online conference works at all. They are streaming live Tik-Tok and Facebook videos from tents in refugee camps in Syria, and rebels in remote areas of countries like Somalia and Chad are able to broadcast too.
Thanks for the link back, and I agree about it being too early for Christmas Trees. (As you know.)
    Best wishes, Pete. x

I agree, Pete I just threw open to see what the common consensus is and your thoughts are the same as mine…although I do get the point about putting pressure on the major players to do more that may be more effective in person x

The silver ball is quite surreal – wow – wonder what it is (and those winds were high!)
And I agree that too soon to put the tree up!
One year when I did put it up before thanksgiving I was so bored with it by the time Xmas came so I took it all Down the 26th
But if I wait until after thanksgiving / it is enjoyable til NYE

Do you have more than one tree?

The balls were from a display and the winds dislodged them obviously they were not secured enough…I totally agree with the boredom, Yvette if the tree is put up too early…I do have more than one tree as I have quite a big house so have one in the lounge and one in the dining room…it never looks quite right in the sunshine though but I love it at night plus I cannot put chocolates on the tree for obvious reasons which is shame but there it is…
