Monday Musings…14th November 2022…

Good Morning…and welcome to Monday Musings… a place where my inner child comes out and also where anything which has wowed or dismayed me has happened over the last week…

Sunday was Remembrance Sunday or Poppy Day…The day when we should remember all those brave souls who fought and died for us…War is a terrible, terrible thing and life would have been so much different for us if we hadn’t won the war in fact we may not even have existed…so many needlessly died and many died unknown…to see that we still honour them makes me proud as we should not forget…Clive’s music summed up my feelings and I hope many more…

Remembrance Sunday was particularly poignant for us as we also celebrated without our dear Queen for the first time…

However not all wars succeed and the sheer will and determination of the Ukrainian people have

Therrebrought about this..the Russians are on the run…

There are still dangers but the spirits of the Ukrainian people is a joy to behold…

Thank you for joining me today as always I look forward to your comments and hope you all have a joyous and productive week xx

I love poppies but feel sad they are associated with remembrance of the war dead. I have loved ones in Ukraine and hope and pray for the valiant Ukrainians to prevail over evil.

I love the poppy too, Marian it was the first flower to grow on the fields at Flanders so to me a fitting tribute to the dead…What flower would you have chosen? Just interested 🙂

It’s so important to remember that too many lives are lost and destroyed and too many hearts are broken through war. With an aging population, the world could do without killing off its young people at the moment.

I agree and the courage of the Ukrainians puts other countries at war to shame they are fighting noin stop for their country how many others can say that? with the wars going on at the moment although they are getting help from the Uk, US nad others to enable them to do so…

Well said, Carol. We can but hope that the end of the war in Ukraine is in sight, to put an end to all the deaths, hardships and suffering that brave nation is enduring. Thank you for linking to my post: the songs in there make their points well, I think. xx

We can but hope and yes your songs do make their points well, Clive..I was listening to one of the top army guys earlier and he said because Russia doesn’t believe Ukraine should exist they will keep on trying they tried in 2014 and now 2022 but he did applaud the courage of the Ukrainians and said they could win not that they would but they could xx

The Russian view of Ukraine goes back a long way, even before it was subsumed into the former USSR. They see it as their territory, so even if the current conflict can be resolved I wouldn’t rule out another attempt. If the Russians win this one, I’m pretty sure they’ll turn their attention to other former USSR countries too. A sad state of affairs xx

We watched the British Legion service and concert from the Albert Hall on Saturday, then the Cenotaph parade on Sunday. Always very moving and emotional.
    Best wishes, Pete. x
