For most Christmas Dinner means “Turkey”…plus all the trimmings I cannot begin to count how many Christmas turkeys I have cooked but I do remember how daunting cooking the first Christmas turkey was…I cannot hazard a guess at how many turkey dinners I have cooked but I do remember agonizing about how long it took to cook and whether it would it fit in the oven…
One of the most important dinners of the year and we just want to get it right…this post is a collaboration between me and Sally(Smorgasbord) and as always we both share our favourite Christmas Awwww and Mr Bean…he cracks me up every time…
Turkey is also good for you…yep, it’s not one of the bad guys…
Why is turkey so good for you?
Turkey is first and foremost a lean source of protein – 4 oz. gives you 65% of your daily protein requirement and has about half the amount of saturated fat that red meat does.
We are made of protein and we need it to repair ourselves – a bit like the bionic man – we take animal and vegetable protein, add some amino acids and rearrange the nitrogen from the mix to repair or make parts of our body. Don’t forget we are meat – and still a savoury delicacy in certain parts of the world.

Yum! My daughter will be cooking turkey for me on Christmas Day this year, but I will be cooking for my son and his family next week. I’ll check your recipe out. Thank you. Very timely.

Shared on Twitter for you and Sally, Carol. We haven’t cooked a Christmas turkey for a few years now, as we eat at a restaurant on the 25th. It is quite pricey, but pays for itself in lack of stress! 🙂
Best wishes, Pete. x
