Monday Musings…2nd January 2023…

How did that happen? I just blinked and the year had gone and 2023 was here…Welcome to the first Monday Musings of 2023…today it has not got above 15C here and I am Mau(Cold)…I hope you all had a very nice Christmas and have a “Happy and Healthy New Year”

Have I made any New Year’s resolutions?… Nope!.. I can’t remember the last time I made a New Year’s Resolution for me they generally didn’t last a week…

Will 2023 be different…I hope so…

The last 2 years have not been the best for me with family illnesses and Covid which now seems to be rearing its head again from China…anyways after my UK trip last year, I came back and made a silent promise to myself that things would change…I had a lovely trip but it also unsettled me and made me realise that we don’t have to accept our lot we can do much to improve our health and I have been working on that and so far so good…this will be ongoing and I will be telling you more about what I am doing over the next month or two…

For a while now I have been astounded by how many including me just accept what their doctors say and I decided to do my own research and adjust my life accordingly It seems doctors just love to hand out pills and not discuss a patients lifestyle if they did then they wouldn’t be handing out medication willy nilly…

So yes my promise to myself is to look after myself and be kind to myself and get myself to the point where I am happy with what I am doing and feel better for what I am doing as we have to be comfortable in our own skin and what suits me may not suit you…we are individuals…I just want to give my body and my brain the best chance of staying on this earth for a few more years…

The environment and chemicals in food also play a part in my bigger picture…Sometimes I wish I was younger and had taken a different path but we can’t do that so I am just doing what I reasonably can and what is doable without being fanatical about it…No new resolutions then just ongoing ones…

I think this blog post from Carla is great and she has a wonderful idea…Please head over and have a read…she tells us how we can declutter…a declutter is always good…

That’s all for Monday Musings today… I hope you have a great 2023  and if I can be the reason that someone believes in good people I will happy…

Have a great week and be kind to yourself and others xx

It’s been a troubling few years+ around the world, Carol, and I think taking stock of our automatic thinking and making better choices is a great idea (for any year really). How we take care of our minds and bodies is something we have a lot of control over! You’ve inspired me to take a look at my own habits. And thanks for the link to the decluttering post. I’m heading right over! Happy New Year, my friend.

With you on the self-care Carol as you are right, generally prescribing a pill is the easiest thing to do when you only have ten minutes per patient and getting a detailed perspective of their nutrition and lifestyle is not part of programme. I know you have all the tools and are already on the right path. ♥

Thank you, Sally and yes self care I believe is what we should all take on board as for doctors I see your point which is why I believe the whole system needs an overhaul and updated to reflect the current times Hugs xoxo

I have heard so much about doctors handing out pills without taking into consideration the patient. Let’s get back to Family Practice medicine, the doctor who knows you well, and refers you to a specialist if there is a problem. That’s what I have, thank goodness.

You are so right on some drs, easier to just hand out some pills than figure out a way to avoid them! Taking control of your health is wise!! Happy New Year & thanks so much for sharing! xox

Thank you for an amazing year of conversations, Carol. You have inspired me to go back to my kitchen. I had forgotten how good it feels to be one with food and one with our physical and mental health. I am eager to follow your 2023 journey. Thank you for your support and encouragement. Sending hugs!

Wishing you and yours a healthy and happy new year ahead. I too plan to work on my health. I’ve always been lucky as far as my health is concerned but I think as I get older I need to pay more attention. All the best for 2023 my friend.

IMHO, the health experts in America suffered a devastating body blow because of their respond to COVID. Like you, I am now much more likely to research things for myself than take the advice of once-trusted pros. Sad.

I love the idea of decluttering. I’ve been working on it for about a year. It’s harder than it sounds!

It most certainly is Jacqui although having moved over the last 10 years more than I ever have in my whole lifetime I’m getting the hang of it and I buy or keep nothing unless it has frequent use unless, of course, it’s my Christmas Kitsch-smile…as for the medical/health experts I think we can do a better job much of the time as we know our own bodies xoxo

Hi Bernadette.. I do to a point but for me all those years ago I was just told to take the tablets… No other advice… I could have questioned it but I didn’t back then… I am now.. and steering my own health canoe… Happy New Year xx

15C is a warm day here in January, (as you know) but I understand how that must be a shock in Thailand. We have got to 5C so far today, after an overnight frost. At least the sun is trying to shine!
    Best wishes, Pete. x
