Good Morning and welcome to Monday Musings where my muse pinpoints anything exciting or unusual I have read, seen or experienced during the last week it could be anything that piques my interest as I explore the rabbit holes…smile.
My father would have been 95 today…I loved my father and miss him so very much even after 12 years… we used to have the most stimulating conversations, especially after dinner while enjoying a glass of his best red wine we didn’t agree on much and begged to differ most of the time but I miss those times I also miss someone I can have a great debate with as he had an interest and an opinion on most things… A favourite photo of me with my mum and dad…
I love you dad and miss you more xx
I am so happy to have discovered the world of blogging and the most amazing people I would never have ever met if I hadn’t taken the plunge…every day I learn something new… today I learnt about something from the past and yes we need to keep the past alive and pay it forward just as much as its such thrill to learn something new like an exciting new invention or discovery…
Vending machines have been around throughout my whole life and some of the vending machines now especially from places like Japan know no bounds but today it is Uk Inventions from the past who knew that eggs and coal were delivered from a vending machine …Not me!
Please click the highlighted link below and head over to Pete’s where you will find a vending machine you didn’t know existed…from nylons yes nylons to potatoes it is amazing what you could purchase from a vending machine…

Many countries set their clocks one hour forward and yesterday at 1.00am in the UK the clocks were set 1 hour forward…Why? Daylight Saving Time (DST) is the practice of setting the clocks forward one hour from standard time during the summer months, and back again in the autumn/ fall, in order to make better use of natural daylight.
However, there are varying thoughts on this…mine is it should be stopped and luckily it doesn’t happen here…Some thoughts on this…
This blogger thinks it should be stopped and this was when he started his blog…
Music today is another Bocelli and today he collaborated with Tori Kelly…
Thank you for joining me today I hope you enjoyed this collaboration by Bocelli and Tori Kelly as always I look forward to your comments and appreciate any shares xx
Hi Carol, catching up and loving reading your posts. I’m sorry that comments were closed on earlier ones, but I understand. Oh, Pavarotti will always be one of my favorites. In March we learned about Italy at school, and I played a Pavarotti video for the children. You could have heard a pin drop! The photo of you and your parents is wonderful. Such a nice remembrance of your dad. Eggs from a vending machine? Not for me.

Yes it was a last resort but spam was a big problem Jennie its lovely to have some respite form all of that…Pavorotti will always be a favourite of mine I’m sure your children will have many lovely memories of their virtual Italian lesson 🙂 x

I hadn’t thought about spam. Ugh! I do hope the children have Pavarotti memories.

Fascinating post from Pete and thanks for sharing the link Carol, as to the hour change, it never used to bother me but I find now I am older it takes me at least a week to get back into a normal pattern as my body is still hungry and wants to go to bed at the previous time. ♥

Yes, it was so much that came via a vending machine and yes I am happy that it is not practised here as from memory I can remember how much just an hour affects the body clock, Sally xx

I cannot wrap my head around the delivery system necessary for vending machine eggs!

Neither can I Bernadette I just imagine many broken ones it would interesting to know how long that system lasted or maybe they were dispensed in a box/carton? and then I found this…

I love the picture of baby you and your parents. On Friday my dad would have been 99 years old. It’s been 16 years and I still miss him as well for many of the same reasons. Sometimes he disagreed with me just to teach me how to debate, a skill I used in business later on. I too am thankful for my blogging friends. xo

Thank you, Darlene I also noticed my father had a cigarette something that would never happen now…debating is a valuable skill to learn x

John Rieber (not sure if you follow him or not) has had several blog posts about unusual items that come out of vending machines—several I’ve never seen in my travels.

Oh my goodness I love the Bocelli/Kelly song… haven’t heard it in ages. The last time I heard it was, I think, Bocelli and Celine Dion. I’ll tell you… that man is well connected!
I’m glad you have such happy memories to think back to as you remember your dad’s life today… they are a gift.
Also… I love the fact that you give your muses permission to cast a wide net in terms of inspiration and mixing things up!

Bocelli is one of my favourite tenors, Mike and yes like many others they produce some lovely collaborations with other artists…I miss my father more now than when he first passed maybe I now realise the finality of it but we have many happy memories and we speak of him often some of those memories make us smile and laugh ..good times…Oh my muses love to travel down rabbit holes with me in hot pursuit-smile 🙂

You’ve woven together many disparate threads today, Carol. No, I never heard of “eggs and coal . . . delivered from a vending machine” either. When I grew up, farms would invite the community to buy eggs and other produce on the honor system, so they wouldn’t have to “tend” the outdoor stand.
I hate daylight saving time, very disruptive to one’s natural rhythms.

The honor system thrives here I think its lovely…I am so pleased DST does not happen here the seasons come and go as they should 🙂

Happy Birthday to your dad, Carol. What a lovely memory of him and a beautiful photo. I could have used a “nylon” vending machine when I worked in business. Those things were always getting snags and runs. 🙂 And DST… I’d love it if we finally got rid of it. Twice a year we’re all forced through the time rigamarole and it’s not easy! A fun rabbit hole, my friend. 🙂

Smile thank you, Diana that is one of my favourite photos…talking of nylons I remember my aunt telling me how they used a black pencil to draw the seams at the back of their legs when nylons were not available 🙂

I remember hearing that too! I’m glad I don’t have to wear those any more. 🙂

Me too I am allergic to zinc and used to come up in rashes from where the suspenders were fastened 🙂 x

This was a lovely post, Carol. I really dislike the setting of the clocks forward. LOL! 💜

Yes it about time it was stopped and the seasons allowed to come and go in their own time just like they do here 🙂

I agree. Standard time (sun in the morning, not the evening) makes so much more sense!

I prefer Daylight Savings Time and wish they kept it at that all year. I like the light at the end of the day. I detest it when it is dark in the winter at 4 p.m.

It’s not followed here but obviously, I notice the difference in the light and darkness at some times of the year however we don’t get the long light evenings ever like we had in the UK and its always light by 6.30 am whatever the time of year and always dark by 7pm at the very latest but I’m used to it now and I like early light mornings 🙂

Thanks for the mention, Carol. I am with you, and wish they would leave the clocks alone. But I doubt that is ever going to happen here.
Best wishes, Pete. xx
