Welcome to Thursday Thoughts…in these days of ever-increasing processed food production where traditional methods are being replaced by using chemicals to speed up the processes …I love discovering how traditional methods of producing food are still thriving today I am looking at Salt production and how one of the rarest salts in the world is still produced on the island of Bali…
As you know Bocelli is one of my favourite tenors… in one year since Virginia sang this same song at the White House, her voice has grown…
Thank you for joining me today as always I look forward to your comments and appreciate any shares x
Whoa. That has to be one of the best renditions of “Halleluja” I’ve ever heard. It gave me goose bumps.

Loved the salt story Carol, so wonderful to see someone so dedicated to a job they love, keeping old traditions alive. I use salt from Brittany, also full of minerals and has a great, soft flavor. It will be fun to see if I can find any of this salt.

We have been buying Himalayan Pink Salt for some years now, ever since Julie saw something about it on Facebook. It is quite affordable from Amazon, and is supposed to be better for you than white salt. I am a salt fan, and always have it on potatoes, chips, or eggs.
Yet another nice thing that is bad for you in excess. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Salt is essential to our wellbeing as long as we don’t overdo it… in hot climates you need more salt and yes the price of Himalayan Pink salt has come down…You can’t eat a chip without salt or an egg…as you know Pete plus we have to enjoy what we eat its when a diet consists whole of highly processed foods that the amount of salt consumed can be well over the guidelines …I’m sure both you and me are well within our limits 🙂 x

Virginia does appear to have inherited her Dad’s genes. A beautiful voice, and she will be a star.

Also, after watching the video, the lady, Nengah, is a huge inspiration and I feel very humbled. Her work is so hard and then to think of how they are so dependant on the weather

Nengah certainly has a hard life but you can see that she loves it and yes very weather dependent 🙂

Carol, this was such a great post – music and salt! well done
Virginia has a special voice and the music was a treat
– We use “Celtic Salt” that is grayish – and packed with nutrients – and so you are right about how processed other salts can be – but it seems like the salt in the video is pretty amazing

The Celtic Salt sounds good, Yvette …I just loved how dedicated she was to keeping the craft alive I believe it is so important that we keep some traditions alive and yes the salt does seem amazing I am trying to find a stockist as I like to support people like that if I can although we have salt flats fairly close to us and I buy my salt from there…here is the link if you wish to read the post https://carolcooks2.com/2017/06/01/salt-farming-in-northern-thailand/

Thanks of the link!
And good salt is so crucial to human health
Yeats ago – we got a tip about placing a little salt granule under the tongue to feed the body the trace elements and electrolytes thru the lymph system
This health coach guy, mike Bruce, has a small travel container with salt and takes small doses – such a good idea
And some salts have more than 100 trace elements !
As you always talk about – the dangers of processed crap is robbing humans of needed nutrients

That post was so great!
And salt in the spa industry makes sense
And now that I think about it – I have some containers of mineral salt scrubs and need to do one soon

Enjoy your salt scrub, Yvette I have not heard of putting a little under your tongue but with a good salt, it is one way of getting the valuable nutrients 🙂
