great reads a weekly roundup lady with electronic reader

The first post is Sally’s roundup from Smorgasbord Magazine…I just couldn’t keep up with Sally she is just a wonder woman..Her output every week is phenomenal and this week it seems to have even more content if that is possible so I hope you are comfy and have a nice drink…Enjoy!

Monday the start of the week and our weather is very variable at the moment..Tropical showers and sunshine…Time for the latest news from on what is going on around the world with the enviroment and recycling…This week my grandson was on a school trip and they each had to plant 200 trees I am still waiting for the pictures…As plastic is a huge problem here it was lovely to hear that the schools are encouraging the pupils to care about the environment by planting trees…

Tuesdays are my healthy eating posts where we talk about diets and health including cravings, wacky diets and recipes…Last week it was snack bars which are very popular with many and making your own ensures that you know the ingredients and of course they work out much cheaper…I also discussed added sugars, the hidden sugars in our foods…This coming week I have a great success story for you from one of my blog followers…Pete Springer…He is going to reveal his weight loss journey…

Wednesdays are where I get self-indulgent where I reminisce and where I talk about anything which takes my fancy or piques my interest…It could be music, history absolutely anything…

Once a fortnight I am over at Sally’s for my Cookery Column…Last week it should have been Burgers but as is the case with many well-laid plans of mice and men…I couldn’t get Burger Buns for love nor money and the images I wanted to use had corrupted so I needed to take more…So as is often the case when meal planning chicken dishes become the order of the day…and a deconstructed crumble…

Kahlua, salted caramel in hot chocolate...I just had to share that recipe and some others…

I much prefer the food here in Northern Thailand it is cooked as it always has been and not cooked to suit the western palate…Proper authentic Thai food and I love it…In this post, I have introduced you to the food of Issan and given you recipes where I have made the dishes at home in my kitchen they were taught to me by my daughter in law and are authentic recipes …Hot and spicy…Delicious…

Khao Krapow Moo Kai Dao

Thursday also saw me guest posting over at Campbells World where I was made very welcome both by Patty and King Cambell…Thank you, both for your kindness and the warm welcome…Saangchai my rescue dog and King Campbell seem like they could become very good friends…

Fridays are when I give you recipes that I have cooked in my kitchen and this week it was burgers…Not my favourite food but the menfolk and the kids here love them so I like to treat them now and again and also I know it is BBQ time for many of you so I made some new recipes and very tasty they were…

beef patty

Liver… not only does it make for a tasty meal but it is one of the main, important organs in our bodies and we need to ensure we keep our liver as healthy as possible…Sally is the lady with all the answers and this post is well worth the read… it will either endorse that you are doing and eating the correct foods or it may provide you will the information to ensure the good health of your liver… # recommended.

Phew, that was a bit longer than last weeks catch up but I do hope you have enjoyed it…Have a lovely Sunday and I hope the sun shines for you wherever you may be…xx

About Carol:

Enjoying life in The Land Of Smiles I am having so much fun researching, finding new, authentic recipes both Thai and International to share with you. New recipes gleaned from those who I have met on my travels or are just passing through and stopped for a while. I hope you enjoy them.

I love shopping at the local markets, finding fresh, natural ingredients, new strange fruits and vegetable ones I have never seen or cooked with. I am generally the only European person and attract much attention and I love to try what I am offered and when I smile and say Aroy or Saab as it is here in the north I am met with much smiling.

Some of my recipes may not be in line with traditional ingredients and methods of cooking but are recipes I know and have become to love and maybe if you dare to try you will too. You will always get more than just a recipe from me as I love to research and find out what other properties the ingredients I use have to improve our health and wellbeing.

Exciting for me hence the title of my blog, Retired No One Told Me! I am having a wonderful ride and don’t want to get off, so if you wish to follow me on my adventures, then welcome! I hope you enjoy the ride also and if it encourages you to take a step into the unknown or untried, you know you want to…….Then, I will be happy!
