As I was just back from sunny Phuket and catching up with my daughter I came back on a real high and had an extra spring in my steps…My head was buzzing with lots of ideas but I couldn’t settle so as Saangchai has been bugging me to do a blog post once again I resurrected an old one and let him have a few words and I might just might give him a monthly spot…

Yeah…my mistress has given in…woof …I will be back peeps..but before then I do have a guest spot over at the lovely Tori’s blog with the very pretty Lilley…on 23rd August…My guest spot debut…I might even get asked for my pawprint…Fame at last…woof

Cempedak fruit was a new one on me and my daughter and her other half just loved it…I must say the Thai batter using rice flour is so very light and crispy…I ate way too many of them but they were such moreish little crispy bundles of fruit…and that BBQ mackerel were so moist and tasty but I can get that here …It is my new favourite fish at the moment.

About Carol Taylor:

Enjoying life in The Land Of Smiles I am having so much fun researching, finding new, authentic recipes both Thai and International to share with you. New recipes gleaned from those who I have met on my travels or are just passing through and stopped for a while. I hope you enjoy them.

I love shopping at the local markets, finding fresh, natural ingredients, new strange fruits and vegetable ones I have never seen or cooked with. I am generally the only European person and attract much attention and I love to try what I am offered and when I smile and say Aroy or Saab as it is here in the north I am met with much smiling.

Some of my recipes may not be in line with traditional ingredients and methods of cooking but are recipes I know and have become to love and maybe if you dare to try you will too. You will always get more than just a recipe from me as I love to research and find out what other properties the ingredients I use contain to improve our health and wellbeing.

The environment is also something I am passionate about and there will be more on this on my blog this year

Exciting for me hence the title of my blog, Retired No One Told Me! I am having a wonderful ride and don’t want to get off, so if you wish to follow me on my adventures, then welcome! I hope you enjoy the ride also and if it encourages you to take a step into the unknown or untried, you know you want to…….Then, I will be happy!

Welcome to the  Posts from Your Archives, where bloggers put their trust in me. In this series, I dive into a blogger’s archives and select four posts to share here to my audience.

If you would like to know how it works here is the original post:https://smorgasbordinvitation.wordpress.com/2019/04/28/smorgasbord-posts-from-your-archives-newseries-pot-luck-and-do-you-trust-me/

Carol Taylor does an amazing job each week with the food column and healthy eating posts here on Smorgasbord, and she deserves a break to get on with her own writing projects for a few weeks. So I am going to share four posts from Carol’s archives instead and she will be back with us on June 12th..  The second post shares the story of Saangchai, the little rescue pup that Carol and her family adopted who also shares his thoughts.

Things to do today: 1. Get Up… 2. Survive…..3……. Go to bed!

Today I am reblogging one of my early posts …I have added a few updates and it features Saangchais early days… I am having a problem with my media …Hands up I have never done any housekeeping so all my fault…never thought about file size..just blogged… So I need to sort it out so for a few days it will be my scheduled posts and reblogs and if anyone has any pointers as to how and where I start to sort my media I would be very grateful and love you for ever…Well that was a little over the top but I would be very grateful for some help on the way forward with this as I know I can upgrade and I will after I have sorted my existing media as otherwise it will get left and then happen all over again …xxx

Retired? No one told me!

Well that’s my day sorted!

So I stretched, opened my eyes….sun shining through the window…reached for my little silky number that I put on in the morning…must have slipped to the floor…..picked it up, put it on…and it slipped slowly straight off……no straps….and there they were beautifully displayed on the floor.!

Saang Chai!  I got this sleepy one-eyed look and then it dawned on him..he crept to my feet, literally doing that slidey movement dogs do when they know they shouldn’t have and gave me the baby browns…morning mum..love you….I wonder methinks that on Monday whether he will tell the whole truth and nothing but?…..Just licked it my arsss……..

Properly trained, man can be a dog’s best friend!

Another post from my archives on the Soi Dogs of Thailand… I hope that some of you if you are thinking of getting a dog or puppy consider the numerous dogs who have been neglected , abandoned and all awaiting a good home, A forever home….xxx

Retired? No one told me!

Anyone who has been or lived in Thailand knows that they have a huge stray dog population. I also have many friends who have ” adopted ” stray’s/street dogs and generally it is in the plural.

Come on who can resist a sad face particularly when it’s a cute puppy or a dog who looks as if he just needs a cuddle, a clean bed and nice food instead of begging for scraps or going down the bins as many do.

Or if they have been badly treated, badly bitten in fights because dogs can be vicious when fighting another dog or humans they can be equally as vicious to our furry friends.

Prapas Pinyocheep, director of the Bureau of Disease Control and Veterinary Services, said on Monday the latest nationwide survey of the dog population, in 2014, concluded there were around 8.5 million dogs… 700,000 are considered to be  strays and…
