Hello and welcome to my weekly roundup of posts, you may have missed during the week…I hope those of you who are experiencing snow stay warm and if you have to drive heed the weather warnings and stay safe…the heat has turned up a few notches here which means walks have to be done early before the heat rises and later when the sun has gone down…

Maprao is coconut. Pao is a young coconut roasted in a fire; later, the burned dark part is removed to keep the centre. So it is quite small. You drink the juice; it is the BEST coconut juice ever. I keep seeing these little coconuts at the market and asked my daughter-in-law what they were…now I know this video shows how they are roasted…

I hope you enjoyed the video of this traditional method of roasting young coconuts.

Now I best get on with last week’s posts starting with Monday Musings…

A-Z of World Cuisine…Germany.

Some of my favourite series have been based on A-Z’s and this one is World Cuisines the latest being the cuisine of Germany a country I have visited a few times over the years…a country famed for its smoked meats and sausages all eaten with a pitcher of beer for which they are also famed…I hope you enjoy this virtual tour…

Thursday Thoughts…

Cher Ami what a heroic little pigeon…

Cher Ami is on display at the Smithsonian Museum of American History to preserve his
memory. Since then, his story has lived on in the hearts and minds of Americans across the
decades and his bravery will never be forgotten.

The reason I shared this was prompted by a comment from a friend on social media(FB) her question was “Why after 3 days has this post got no likes or comments”…If you read post you will of course-smile-hear my thoughts on this-smile-

The Natural Antibiotic I showcased this week was ACV or Apple Cider Vinegar a staple in my home with many uses ….Music was again provided by Bocelli and this time his collaboration with another favourite of mine Pentatonix…Fabulous…

Thursday Thoughts…24th March 2023…Cher Ami a hero, Natural Antibiotic, Apple Cider Vinegar,

Smorgasbord Health…The Liver.

I have always had a smattering of knowledge as to what was where in my body and the functions of any said organ however as I have got older and have more time on my hands-smile-I have found a new urgency to know more and if possible give me and my family the best chance of staying disease free with good mobility always a plus at my age-big grin-plus there is so much we can do to help ourselves…

I am an advocate for eating good food, in season and for keeping our bodies as chemical-free as we can all things you and I can control…after all it’s our hands who hold the fork …

This is why I find Smorgasbord Magazine a great starting point…I trust my friend Sally as she has the knowledge and experience in nutrition.

Monday Musings…20th March 2023…how single-celled yeasts are doing the work of 1,500-pound cows, How to Prevent Food From Spoiling During a Power Outage, Music from Bocelli and Sheeran…

Welcome to Monday Musings where my muse pinpoints anything exciting or unusual I have read, seen or experienced during the last week it could be anything that piques my interest as I explore the rabbit holes…smile.

Being aware of the fact that climate change is real and global warming exists despite the fact earth’s climate has changed throughout history however now we have more man-made factors that will influence those changes including population increases…

Food if nothing changes will not continue to feed the world population…with advances in science, it is inevitable that as much as we would like to grow and see our food harvested there does have to change some change is good, some bad, some gone in a flash and some have been long-lasting…

I came across this post while reading Patty Fletchers Social Media Monday…it is an interesting read and  I am the first one to admit that I love Almond Milk but recognise that the amount of water needed to produce almonds is astronomical and not sustainable if the popularity and demand for almond milk escalates…Cows emit Methane and I am not getting into that argument but given the increasing demands for beef /milk again we have to have alternatives…

Power Outages…

We are far luckier than some and they happen quite infrequently here and never for longer than about an hour not so for some of you..my readers as it seems to be quite a regular occurrence and can last days…what to do as especially now with food shortages and rising prices around the world we cannot afford to waste anything…Well never fear I came across this post on ” How to prevent food from spoiling during a power outage” there are some great practical tips it’s well worth a read if you are blighted by power outages…

Music today is from another one of my favourite tenors  Andrea Bocelli who like many artists duet with other artists whose style is totally different and most times it works…of course, their working relationships must stem from a mutual sense of respect for each other artistically and as people, it’s then that the magic happens…

I loved this I hope you do too…x

Thank you for joining me today for Monday Musings as always I look forward to your comments and appreciate your shares I hope to see you for my A-Z of World Cuisines on Wednesday where I look at the cuisine of Germany in the meantime enjoy your week…x
